I'm afraid my ignorance is going to show here. I'm interested in purchasing a fully working Colt Walker replica. Are such guns produced? I've found non-firing and blank-firing versions, but never the real deal. Anyone know of a place I could get one?
WELCOME !!! Gribble glad you joined. Now please don't feel we is gonna thank you is ignorant! There's a few of us here that proudly try hard at being that way . And there's quite a few genius here you can learn a lot from. So enjoy the site, make yourself at home and we look forward to hearing more from you. Thanks...A.H
Midway USA has them on sale, Uberti repro. I've several other repros, and Uberti is consistently of high quality. The sale ends soon, so get there quick if you want one ( I just ordered one myself, price is 320). If you must put it off a bit-hey, I've wanted one for over 40 years and just now am getting a round toit-then Dixie Firearms is also a good source, and they have sales from time to time.
I just got my Uberti Walker in the mail. The wedge is in there so tight I can't cock it nor turn the cylinder.
Manual says tap the wedge out. Hah! I beat on that thing with a plastic hammer. Then I placed a block of wood over the wedge and beat it with a steel hammer.
I'm afraid if I hit it much harder I'm going to ruin my brand new Walker. How hard is it supposed to be to move that **** wedge? Any tricks to it?
this question is aimed at Mr. Gribble or for anyone
who can provide a source for Colt Walkers non-firing prop replicas
for use in a western photography session...
I prefer not to have to spend $300 for a firing version (at this time).
there does not seem to be any non firing versions out there
(I have exhausted my browser, mouse and kybd)

Try beating on the other end of the wedge. If that doesnt work invest in a wedge removal tool. sam.
It should not be hard to remove. Look for a little retainer on the wedge, possibly held in with a screw. You may have to press in the retainer to move the wedge. I'm not familiar with the Walker, but I have seen other blackpowder replicas with such a retainer. I don't know if that is authentic.
I have never tried to remove the wedge from a Colt BP repro, but I have had to disassemble firearms that were bound up. I have gotten a lot of use from a stout brass rod. I bought the stock at my local Ace Hardware store and select my hammer according to need. Brass doesn't seem to mess up the finish on steel.
Hello, I purchased and recieved an Uberti Colt Walker Kit from Dixie Gun Works. It is ready to fire but need to be finished. Does anyone know how to remove the barrel from the rear frame? The exploded views of the gun shows that it is held together by two frame pins which one can not see until the parts are separated. One also needs to do this to exchange cylinders.
