OCOEE, Fla. -- An 11-year-old Ocoee boy was arrested for playing with a toy gun. Police said the arrest was necessary, because it was a safety issue.
The boy was using a rubber band gun and his father said the kid did nothing wrong, but police said they take it as a serious threat and the 11-year-old is facing felony charges.
The crime isn't very common, but Ocoee police said it is serious. It centers on an 11-year old boy and his toy short-barreled shotgun.
The incident started Sunday afternoon, when the 11-year-old was riding in his dad's pickup near Clarke Road and White Road in Ocoee. Someone driving nearby called police after they said the boy pointed what looked like a real gun out the window. The victim told police she was afraid for her life.
"With that type of behavior, it's hard to tell if it's a real gun or not, especially in their car," said Sgt. Randy Conyers, Ocoee Police Department.
But, according to the charging affidavit, the 11-year-old's dad said nothing was wrong with what his son had done and that he used to do it as a kid. The boy even told police he was pretending to be a cop and thought the victims were laughing with him.
The gun itself only fires rubber bands and was checked into evidence. Police didn't comment on the weapon's color or release any images. Still, the victims said they were frightened and, police said, toy or no toy, the charges are justified.
Eyewitness News spoke to the father of the suspect on the phone. He said his son is out of juvenile detention and that a judge told him the case would be dropped. He also confirmed that the gun was black, but that it looked more like a stick than a gun.
that is the most retarded bull$hit I've ever heard!!...what the he11 is wrong with people these days, there is just no word strong enough to describe the utter stupidity of these people, they could mistake a can of cola for a gun.

AMEN!!! Charge the little sumbish, try him as an adult and give his daddy the maximum fine the law can conjure up!! Confiscate the offending truck and said weapon. Public flogging is not out of the question, in cases such as this. We need more laws to protect the American people from criminal acts, like this. I LOVE AMERICA!!

Now what do you think? Of course I'm being a sarcastic sob. I don't see much that can be done to straighten out the mess we're in short of armed insurrection or Armegeddon. Oh, I forgot...we can vote the bastiges out. And get a new crop of the same.
The father needs to sue the lady that made the complaint and the city needs to fire the dumb sob that charged the kid. This is the stupidest thing I have seen in a long ... well at least today. This kind of stupidity is becoming way to common!
The Little League team I coached used to play Ocoee's team. This little town on the outskirts of Orlando used to be full of cowboys and rednecks.
It was a great place. Da*n this place has changed. Guess the old rednecks got outnumbered. Sad.
That's why I moved to the country. Born Country, Moved to the Big City, Back to the Country.
Ain't life grand?

Now you all see part of Why I Moved to Alaska from Florida...I saw the Light.
The Officer should be fired for NO COMMON SENSE in this Arrest.
But TRAUMATIZING a Child is Now OK ????

you better not let some sob cop put my kid in juvenile detention even for one minute for some like this. i would hunt him down and treat myself to an assault charge (if he could prove it was me)!
assaulting a cop=bad, if you're gonna do something to them, they can't see you if you plan on letting them live to tell about it. they can do worse things than putting you in jail, knowing you wont tell on them because you'd have to tell on yourself too
you would be right to be very angry, and may be able to sue(if you can sue cuz mcdonalds made you fat why not sue cuz some dumbass wrongfully detained your kid, scarring them for life?) for enough to set up a nice fat college/car/retirement/whatever fund for each of your kids though and they would have a nice head start on the financial aspect of life, which would be much better than having the PD mad at you and getting your anger out
then you and your family would pay till you leave town, course, if you dont mind the assault of an officer charge, you could sue them for harrassment if they bother you and you get both
A rubber band gun? You've got to be sh*ttin me... I used to play with those all the time as a kid, and I have yet to see one that resembles a REAL gun. They were mostly novelties you bought at a carnival or a local fair. Even the newer designs you see on Ebay still don't hold a true resemblance to the real thing, other than having a handle and a trigger.
This is the most insane bunch of crap I've ever read !!!
The 11 year old kid being treated as an adult is total BULL *****.
Times have changed so much in America to the point where there's seems to be NO common sense.
I wish I could win one of those 350 million dollar lotteries where I could pay to defend children against atrositys such as this one !!!
When I was a kid we played army and pretended to shoot and blow up automobiles as they passed by. Thank God poeople did'nt have this mind set back then...A.H

I see one thing. That is if I ever pointed a gun toy or other wise at someone, I would of got my a** kicked. I was taught at a young age, ( by the time I could understand) before 11 years old, "YOU DON"T POINT GUNS AT PEOPLE." So I believe at 11 years old you understand that. I did. I think he & his Dad need to be sent to a gun safety class as punishment. This type of thing happens because of a lack of responsibility by parents. By 11 years old you know right from wrong. If any good comes from this maybe the 11 year old and his dad have learned that.
