Hey Tommy, it likely was the AES-B, I went looking further through Century's site and I found the AES-B. I had accidentally linked to the M72. I fixed the link in my post on the first page to point to the right product... and I still want it!!!

Yeah, still single here... and the 'guns' issue has become a deal-breaker for me with any long-term-relationship possibilities.

I've seen them called wire-cutters numerous times on sites that sell the rifle with the bayonet, so I'm guessing that's indeed what it is.

the next time you see them old gas grill(the cast aluminum ones) you should start to pick them up it really don't take alot to get 100lbs i wouldn't mind havin that grill to strip down Cubbieman.loli got really fast at stripping things down i can take then grills apart in about 4 minutes i have a pry bar and i put it in between the pit and the frame and just pop the bolts they just crack the grill and it comes right off . as for the a/'c's i take them home and plug them into the outletif they work then i find someone that needs it or swap it out with one that i have that is shot if not i scrap it they take about 10 menutes i uesed to do the compressors too but they was to heavy so i stopped . my son wants to try and save the iron too but i can't handle the iron . as for aluminum the gutters and storm doors are endless i have to leave some behind and go back the next day to get the rest .i'm planning a trip with the next haul so no guns or ammo well maybe one case or .223 but i need to go back to lake catherine and garvin woodlan gardens one more time .not to mention jean petit state park. if anyone needs a heads up on what they buy as scrap just ask me and i'll tell you . they don't buy batteries at all places so the best thing to do is to get a plactic drum and cut the batteries in there and drain the acid out then dut them up and get the lead . next melt it down into blocks remember to save the acid. then you can take the lead blocks and sale them and get some cash and when you get home you can go into you garage and get some old milk jugs and bottle up the acid . now to use the acid next time to want to clean your cement try useing some of the acid it will remove anything off the cement.oh for you die hards the lead can in a last ditch efort be used for bullet castings but it is a soft lead so it would probable be god in a bolt action or a revovler it might jam in a semiauto but you could try.i know that when you boil it down you cook all the inpurities out so all the acid would be gone plus you could soak the lead in a good stronge soap before using as a casting just to be safe.

tommy, we have transfer sites where people take their trash here, and they have a special area for metal items, you could have a field day

and the bums like to dig through the dumpsters there

Actually tommy, careful with that acid; it still contains lots of ionic lead in solution that can contaminate your local groundwater. There are ways to precipitate the lead out of solution, but it's really more trouble than it's worth.

And with the lead you get from it, you need to wash it with water and melt it down again at least twice, but more is better here. The sulfuric acid that is usually used in batteries doesn't fully evaporate, it just gets more concentrated when the water evaporates and leaves most of the acid behind. Washing the lead with water will rinse away a lot of that, but not all, thus the re-melting. It won't be pure lead, but at least it will be safer for you.

I'm giving you this heads-up not only as a friend, but also as a chemistry major at the University of Washington (after this summer quarter is over, I'll be a senior)... just so you know I'm not pulling this stuff out of my butt.

thanks for the heads-up i only melt it outdoors and in a very windy day.lol as for the acid i think i will start to bring it to the dump or a auto motive place and see if they can take it.or i might just giveup on the batteris all together cause they are dropping down to like 50 cents a piece and it's not worth the trouble right now but i could just hang on to them til the price rises. so you say i would have to melt it and then do a remelt ??

I'm only suggesting to wash it, then melt it down again to get any acid particles that didn't get to the surface before up to the surface. It's not likely that it stuck around, but just to be sure.....

*thinks for a second* Lemme grab my CRC of Chemistry and Physics ($150 book)....

Okay, so it looks like you may not need to do that after all. Lead's melting point is 327.502 degrees Celsius and the boiling point of Sulfuric Acid is about 290 degrees Celsius, so you're boiling the excess acid off when you melt it. Just make sure you have the wind blowing away from you, cuz you don't want that stuff in your lungs. (ref: SULFURIC ACID, 52 - 100 %)

So, you can forget what I said about the wash/rinse bit. Sorry. I should've cracked-open the book before posting that.

Just be careful with it all and I think you should be alright. Full-length clothing, well-ventilated area, and splash goggles. You do NOT want to get that acid in your eyes. You can buy a cheap ($3-4) set of splash goggles at your local hardware store.

Tommy,
After you sell your next load of scrap, instead of buying ammo, get your wife a one-way ticket to Moosejaw, Alaska. Problem solved!

... wow. That's more than enough to buy a nice AK and quite a few accessories... Too bad our dumps are centralized and you're not allowed to scrounge.

well they have a big sign on the front gate that has these two words "NO TRESSPASSING" and the cops and parrish workers sometimes come and pass buy to check on the place .and they do have a 6' fence with a 3row barb wire around the top of it.and i'm not kidding.but the funnest part is the fence stops about 30' from the end of the property it don't seal up nuthin.and i just drive up with my gator and take out my dolly and me and my son go shopping. this is what i ride to the dump with.i have it decked out with a extra battery and cd player and a car alternator for extrat juice for my lights and siren . i have a fire truck siren that i got off a frie truck.well it came off one . the fire department threw it away in the dump and i went got it.
