Rings in butt stock?

on the mod. 98 what is the function of the rings in the but stock, just curious.

it is used for removing the firing pin.

Thanks for the info lefty. a little research and I found they are called "takedown disc's" and are used to compress the spring so the cocking peice and bolt sleeve can be removed from the firing pin.
