This was already posted in the AK forum, but I don't think the Military->AK section gets as much traffic as this forum does. This was a really good article about the AK-47, and the genius behind it:

They are hard to beat,but the new piston operated AR's are a big improvement,might even get one some day,until then,my lowly SKS will have to do,I like it.

The Soviet T-54 MBT which the T-55 MBT is based on is 60 years old this year.

Interesting. I started out in a Wikipedia article about the T-54/55's, and wound up surfing through half a dozen articles on tank armor.
