Hey there, I'm a newbie, but I've search passed threads and I think I have a rare one for ya. Before you tell me all the obvious, hear me out. I have a Norinco( yes, I know it's crap), that I took to the range yesterday. I've fired this before but have never experienced this before. It fired fine for the first few rounds but then started having some issues. The hammer was striking but hard enough to fully divot primer. Now, the hammer will not engage at all unless I completely remove the assembly and depress the disconnector beyond normal range of operation, thus allowing it to fully engage, and yes this hurts your finger like the dickens! So, am I completely screwed and having to buy additional parts or is this an adjustment issue?
I'm not sure what you mean by disconnecter. Have you tried just removing the receiver/dust cover and the recoil spring/guide from the rifle and leave the bolt fully foward and locked, with it cocked, and tried dry firing it? I mean MAKE SURE THE WEAPON IS EMPTY, by try it, see if the hammer does or does not strike. What ever it does, put up a report on here and I'll see what I can think of from there. I'm trying to help, just need a little more info. Thanks.
Question #1 a Norinco what? Question#2 If by divot you mean you had a fully struck primer was this only on one lot/brand of ammunition?, Question#3 If by engage you mean the hammer does not travel to it's fully engaged position? Basically I am asking from a technicians persprective IE work backwards from where you know there is a difficulty. I look forward to more responses from you... Good Luck

Sorry I'm new at this forum, threading,...stuff.
#1) Yes, a norinco sks, I thought that was assumed in the sks forum. #2) before hammer quit fully engaging it was striking at less than half the force, there by Not Fully Striking Primer(Leaving only a slight divot.) I started disassembling the trigger group, After removing mag latch, sear, hammer assemblies, and rebound disconnector, I discovered that a fired primer had been knocked free from a casing and had become lodged in the trigger assembly. Thus answering a piece of the mystery of the hammer jamming. It now seems that the trigger bar is hitting the sear guides on the trigger housing. It must have slightly bend it or something right?

That sounds like it was you root cause, I am not very familiar with the construction of the firing mechanism assembly on an SKS, however there are several here who are , my suggestion would be a very careful visual inspection perhaps with a magnifying glass under strong light and look for anything that appears to not be moving exactly right. I'd bet something is bent or perhaps a burr was ceated or a spring fatiqued as well. Good Luck

Were you shooting wolf ammo at the time this occurred. This has become a common problem with allot of the Russian ammo primers falling out over charged cases or lack there of and blown primers all which can destroy your gun but cause serious injury. If it was wolf that caused the problem you may be able to contact customer service and get them to replace your trigger group or at lest get it fixed the primer has definitely done some damage of some sort. I was lucky I gave up shooting wolf long before they started have problems.
