Enviromental Protection Agency has it's own ship!?

Here's yours tax dollars at work today in Lake Superior. I used the 12x zoom on it and was shocked when I blew it up when I got home and read the name on the starboard side. I didn't think it was a Coast Guard vessel...wrong colors.

How many million do you suppose this thing costs? Five?

The ship is called the "Lake Guardian" so it probably never leaves Lake Superior.

It operates on all the Great Lakes monitoring, measuring and conducting research. I can think of worse ways to spend money.

NOAA Ocean Explorer: Vessels: Lake Guardian

Yea, at least they are spending the money on something worthwhile. Unlike putting 2 million dollars into capturing a sector of Bagdad, only to leave & lose it a month later.

EPA ship

30 years ago I worked on tug boats up and down the Illinois and Red river. They had a million dollar garbage disposal machine on those boats, but threw the garbage off the wheel wash. They didn't want to cleanup the machine! I hope they bust somebody doing that. With all the terrorists running around, they need it.

Ok I guess I have to bite...And the reason they Blackhawks, Apachies, F-15's and stuff we haven't seen is...?

I know that 10 years ago EPA was on some citizens concerned about taxes list for it's bloated budget which seemed to have "stuff" some were questioning.

Not that it matters I guess, at least it's something, unlike the missing 4 trillion apparently the gov lost?

Watched "Independence Day" again last night. That's what this country needs is some bugs to invade us, anyway when the President asks one of the scientists, "How much does all this stuff cost and where did the money come from?" The scientist reponds, "You didn't really think we were paying $600.00 for hammers did you?"

Never played Trivial Pursuit in my life, killer. And probably wouldn't do too well, unless they let me Google the answers...

I got some Rasberry Wine and some Peach Wine from one of the wineries in Palisades here in Colorado. The Rasberry is the best wine I've ever had...haven't opened the Peach yet.

Sounds like a winner!
In regard to the ship, they ought to remove the polution belching engine and replace it with illegal Mexican rowers, you know, with all the oars sticking out of the sides.

that wouldn't work...we all know the Canadian military doesn't do water sports.

The EPA just like most government departments have crucial parts in our society.
