well 109th Congress: HR 1312 had 94 sponsors this was in 2005. This one like you said only has 59. The last action seems to be on March 19, 2007 where it was submitted to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security.

At least my rep didn't sign onto it...

Here in the New York 19th District we had a good Representative, Sue Kelly, who'd been in office 16 years and done lots of good work for the District and the State, get edged out by a novice Dumbocrat, John Hall, whose main claim to fame is that he used to be in some minor league rock group I never heard of. I email the sonofabitch ( in my book "Democrat" = "evil nanny-stater") regularly on the issues of the day, even though he never bothers to reply to his mail the way Sue Kelly always did.

I zapped off about 3 emails speaking agin HR 1022, including pointing out to him the deep contempt McCarthy showed for all American gunowners by jiggering the bill-numbering process to get that specific number on her antigun bill. I was pleased that he didn't sign on as a consponsor, which leads me to believe he paid heed to his constituents. No one up here I spoke to was very happy with the idea of the 'Slick Willy Gun Ban: The Next Generation' being proposed. The fact that the Slick Willy Gun Ban is still the law in New York State is galling enough!

I still think little of my current Representative, but he's an improvement over our two so-called "senators," Upchuck Schumer and Slick Hillary. Doesn't mean I'm voting for him in 2008, though.

Thanks to those who bring up issues of the day in posts like this thread; and many thanks to those, however few they may be, who have the sense to step outside their comfy zones to help do something about the issues of the day.

Our forefathers never got anything good accomplished for themselves and all of us without getting up and getting to it. Too many people today, those who are enjoying the many things done for us by our forefathers, are super-glued to and preoccupied by their comfy zones.

Those comfy zones are going to be shaken loose and fail if more people don't wake up and do something!

To those who are awake, paying attention, and doing something...THANK YOU!

I just sent a message to the DNC, basically saying I want to vote Dem, but can't as long as they oppose my right to defend myself through bills such as these.

Daddyo: I know how you feel. I became a Constitutional voter you may say. I keep reading the Bill of rights and Consititution from time to time just to remind me what our country is built on. It is hard to find leaders with the same solid ground. But, we all must keep fighting! There are a lot of good people out there like us. Take care and good health to all; Oldtimer

With more than 85,000,000 gun owners in the U. S. you would think that our so called representatives would pay attention to us. But they would rather try to hide legislation or complicate it with so much legal mumbo jumbo that the ordinary person cannot understand it. I feel the reason most politicians go to law school is not to better understand or protect our Constitution and Bill of Rights, but to understand how to confuse the people so that they can more easily take our rights away. And then they have main stream media tell us how good things are for us. They are very well organized and are dead set on ruling the country.

Many politicians have sold out themselves, and have forgotten who they should really be working for...the people who voted them into office:
