Hey I've got an idea let's catch the grass on fire. Then maybe the fence will burn and then the house....

Looks like a fun thing to get hit in the eye with. What other fun stuff do your kids talk you into?

Umm, read carefully..

The ground is wet as you can see, and even if a few blades caught on fire it wouldn't be much to put out..my foot took care of that..

I entertain all my son's ideas, thats how you make lasting memories and bond with your child..if I shot down all of his ideas, I don't think we'd have a great playtime relationship..Being a single father I have dual roles to fill and I rarely say no to anything he wants to do..
Of course safety is paramount with me in anything we do, but seriously..a tennis ball on fire is not a real "dangerous" thing to do.

I'm sure that as children both of you did things that were far more dangerous..and i'm sure your DAD wasn't there watching you..
.

Sounds like you guys haven't had much experience with fire OR are a little afraid of it..lol

I don't think a flaming tennis ball could ignite enough dry grass in my wet backyard to ignite my house..The fireball only lasts bout 1.5 mins at most.

Fire is a wonderful thing and should be appreciated for all the fun that it brings to the playtime table..

relax...he's a BOY SCOUT and knows what fire can do as do I..

I'm not a pyro and this was a fun thing to do on a boring day with my only son..

Knock that..

I used to set things on fire and blow things up as a kid. Break down string firecrackers for the gunpowder. Gun powder + perfume sample bottle + duct tape = you'd think a bomb went off. Oh wait, it did. I always took necessary precautions. With what grass I could see, you could easily put it out with a garden hose. Only real worry was the dog going for it.

I was actually expecting a game of tennis with the rackets and net and a flaming ball.

Actually, I was expecting something we used to do at camp... Flaming Soccer.

You take a soccer ball, wrap it with a sheet, tie it all up with cotton string and soak the thing in isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. It burns at a very low temperature, so doesn't really hurt you unless you stay in the flame, but you can kick it and it makes a really cool woosh! flame sound as it goes flying across the grass.

well, I might have tried it too. but no one ever accused me of having a lot of sense. Better the kid try stuff like that with an adult around then when hes home alone or with his buddies, least thats what I always tell the wife when she catches us doing something crazy
