I have tried to get this thing to be a decent shooter since I got it. It has gotten alittle better but not enough. I have tried 2 different brands of ammo. Wolf Military Classic. and CCI Blazer. The Wolf stuff is absolute junk. I will never buy another box again. So many duds it's unreal. It also shot awful with it. Then I tried the CCI. It was alot better. No duds. Slightly better shooting. I still can't get this thing to hit a bullseye. I thought maybe it was just me. So I picked up my friends Taurus 9mm and it was dead on.
My aim is the same everytime I fire the PA-63 but the shot is somewhere else everytime. Now I have run about 150 rounds thru it and it starts to really be hard on my hands after the first fifty.
Would the recoil spring kit help all of this? I am looking for any advice on the subject. Thanks

Is the barrel good and tight in the frame? You might also want to slug the barrel to see what the actual bore size is. I've seen a couple of reports of barrels being several thousandths over-sized.
My pa63 has a worn barrel straight from Centerfire where I ordered it from. Check the grooves particularly near the chamber. It also had a very heavy trigger. The sights are antequated as were most iron sights of that era. These things add up to poor accuracy. I use Sellier and Bellot jacketed ball ammo since hollow point ammo misfeeds. I never intended the pa63 as a target pistol.
Having the same problem with mine. I'm about ready to take my big ol' shop vise to the range with me so I can clamp the pistol solid and see how it patterns. My Bersa Thunder .380 is the same way. I also have a .44 1851 Colt Navy clone, nice gun but I STILL don't know where the bullets are going. That one really pisses me off. I haven't hit the paper with it yet, guess I'm going to have to use a sheet of cheap particle board for a target backboard, to see where they're hitting. I think I will take the vise next time.
The one I got looked like it had never been fired, so a worn barrel could be the culprit...they were issued with heavy steel cleaning rods, probably to teenagers. Also, the fixed barrel system, to my thinking, would allow for a barrel to be "off" without there being a way to know it just by looking. I took mine out for 50 rounds again yesterday, Offhand, I hit the x ring consistently at ten feet and kept it mostly in a 6 inch circle out to thirty, same as the last few times. Still haven't benched it. When I first got it, shooting 50 rounds was like a punishment, but with the new recoil spring, yesterday I shot those 50 in the PA 63 as well as 50 rounds of .45, 15 rounds of 9mm out of my Taurus 905 snub, and a few other 9s, .22s and .38s with no ache. Haven't tried the Wolf Military Classic, but both the Wolf regular and the CCI seem to recoil harder than the MFS rounds I've been using. See if you can find MFS +P mak 95 gr, they've worked the best, by far, for me.
Also, there's a thread somewhere on the Makarov forum about changing a barrel, might be worth checking into if you want to keep at it with the gun.

I would like to keep the gun. I was at 30 feet and had a really hard time with it. I have checked it out the barrel seems to be aligned properly. My next step is to put it in a gun vise and fire it. See if it is possibly me or the ammo.

Just got back from the range... Shot 100rds though it for the third time in as many weeks.. Seems like everytime I go back my groups get closer.. There is no doubt it's a tough gun to shoot..
Slug or have the barrel slugged then mic the slug, then do a pencil drill. You do know what that is ? After that I'd say do a thorough field strip and cleaning including running a Bronze or nylon brush through the bore. After that I'd just shoot her in til she is completely broke in!

Mine is right on using Wolf miltary, wolf black box, and Silver Bear. I was surprised at how accurate it was. Of course I've been practicing with my Sigma 9VE for a while and when you get used to that trigger, you become an excellent shot with any other weapon. I shot it both with original springs then changed to 11# Wolff springs Enjoy!
Hum 11# spring in the slide is the factory stiffness. I changed the Hammer spring in mine to the 9# from the factory 16#! I used the 13# in the slide and I replaced the firing pin spring. I will let ya'll know how she does. I hope to get out sometime this week and shoot it since my ammo finally arrived!
