| Senior Member | DC Gun Ban Legislation on Hold. D.C. appeals to Supreme Court on gun law - Yahoo! News "WASHINGTON - The District of Columbia on Tuesday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a ruling that struck down the city's 30-year-old ban on private handgun ownership. If the Supreme Court takes the case, it could lead to the high court's first direct ruling on the Second Amendment since 1939." Now one part of that seemed okay, the rest was nuts. The law stated you needed a license to carry. I'm fine with that. We do that to cars too. It's not like the government can't find gun-owners if they want anyway. The rest...they banned handguns entirely and required people to keep rifles or shotguns unloaded and disassembled or fitted with trigger locks. That's a problem, right there. I don't have kids. I'm never gonna. Until my cat grows thumbs I don't need trigger locks. Now my state (Nevada) doesn't have this nonsense, but no place in the US should. These laws are remaining in place during this appeals process. - Coeloptera |
