Jerry your cheatin. My wife would love that type of camping or the Hilton.
I like canoe camping, backpacking and camping at my lease. In 1998 my two sons and I went to Philmont Scout Ranch. Our crew hiked 75 miles in 10 days and spent one night at 11,000 feet on Mt. Phillips. We lived out of our packs the entire time. What a trip. Wish I had been hunting, mule deer and elk all over.
I.m really fond of canoe camping. Load canoes with camping gear, fishing rods and the .45 and or SKS and spend overnight or up to 4 days on the river. It's fantastic to camp in my back yard like that ,I'm a taxpayer.
My youngest son did 5 days in the Boundry Waters Canoe Area 3 years ago. Oldest son did 5 days on the Buffalo River in Arkansas, all with boy scouts.
Short story---My youngest son, at Basic Combat Training was told "This is not boy scout camp"!! etc...etc... When asked what he learned in a first-aid instruction class. He replied," Nothing, Drill Sargent". The Drill Sargent got red in the face and was ready to retort, then my son added, "I've been Red Cross certified First-Aid and CPR 5 times when as a boy scout".

Good for your son! I was a scout and loved it. The best trip we took was on the Minn/CAN border. we canooed for a week. Long haul portages the works. Bears ate the food of the group behind us. we had to split up rations and do some serious berry hunting and fishing. I know we have ribbed each other about "real" camping here. But, to tell you the truth. Here in the industrialized, corn and soybean infested flat earth section of the world those oportunities are few. There are plenty of places to camp. (in a structured environment) but not too many remote palces. Thre are some hike in places, but not the same as picking a place in the middle of no where. The big rivers are barge canals, the nicer smaller rivers are lined with private property with about 0 access. That's what I miss most about AZ the land was way more accesable.

I think im a bi-polar camper, i like to river raft, the more white water the better, just did the gates of ladore, class4 rapids, dont change clothes for days, or even weeks ,sweat, stink, sleep on river beaches with scorpians, rattle snakes, dont bother with a tent most times, just a tarp, but when I go camping on the weekends with my wife , i take the RV, air conditoning, micro wave, of course my wifes idea of camping is the mgm grand in vegas

Now that's a flexible camper.
