Troy, your statement reminds me of a movie scene (Can't remember which movie) where the soldiers decide to spend a Million dollars for a fireworks show and they call in a massive airstrike on a hill in Viet Nam where there were no VC and they sit on an adjacent hill watching...Enjoying the show. Hmmm

Boys in Company C, I believe that was the name of the movie. I really liked it, along with Purple Heart. At least they didn't make us look like a bunch of drug-crazed murderers!

Fine, you're bailing out because you don't like one guy says, we don't need people like you in the NRA. I'll join and take your place!

Did the NRA give an official statement about this "statement" at any point?

Im not sure of the situation you have over there, but if its anything like what we went through back in 2003 be very careful and act now.Your biggest threats are obviously the pollies, but dont discount members of your fraternity doing and saying stupid things. We got screwed over by a leading member of pistol australia.I wont mention who it was but lets just say a few of us know about it and would love to buy him a beer(yeah right). This person made the decision of calibre ban and made the deal with the police and govt.We now can only use up to 38cal without a special permit. If you want over 38cal you have to aquire permision and get a permit to hold a banned calibre and you can only use it for silhouette or western action. Please dont let this happen to you.Our laws were changed by the one and only john howard.A man who has stated that HE HATES GUNS.What was supposed to happen was a unifrom set of rules for each state,it failed to happen. All the states have different rules. Some states wont recognise another states license and if you move state you have to sit your gun license test again.Im in the A.C.T (australian capital territory),when i apply for a firearm permit to aquire it takes 28 days for the paperwork to cool off.In NSW (new south wales) just over the border they are supposed to wait 28 days.I have seen mates wait up to 9 months for a permit to come back. What a joke.In queensland you can get your PTA back within 5 days. And in W.A (western australia) you need special letters and jump through hoops worse than any other state. So dont let it go this way.5 rounds is crap too. There was a big stink over the remington pumpaction rifles in 223 not long ago.People were converting them to use AR 30 round mags. The govt has stopped the importation of AR mags of higher capacity of 10 rounds. They almost stopped bringing in the rem 223 pump because of it.

Irish, I for one am so worried about what next year will bring, and it's only January! Many people over here will vote the party ticket, no matter how bad their candidate is. If that happens, we can look forward to a weapons ban that extends far beyond the one Bill Clinton put in place. I'm not going to be happy next year if we get returned to the clutches of the gun-ban crowd.

Is/was he speaking for himself or for the NRA. He did say the words, we've (meaning the NRA) have discussed the subject (meaning assault weapons) but I think he is giving his own personal opinions. Not that it makes what he said any better. I'm sorry guys, 5 bullets can kill just the same as 10,20 or 30 bullets can. It still comes down to the individual not the weapon.

The NRA may not even know this was said. I will email them the link, the first link comes up as a 404 error but the second link, to the interview worked fine.

If they felt the way this guy says he does, they wouldn't have fought against the first ban. Although, I don't exactly know how hard of a fight they put up.

But again, I will email them and hope everyone that listens to it does also. Contact the NRA via this link https://www.nrahq.org/contact.asp

All right fellow G&G members, I contacted the NRA and sent them a message and included the link to that BS comment via the link I included above. PLEASE USE IT AND DO THE SAME!!!!

Quite right, and the party is doing the same, they don't care who or what the candidats is as long as they think it can beat the other party's.
The constant phone messages Iam getting now keep saying which one has the best chance of beating the other.

The NRA can't let a board member represent them on national television, say things against the position of the NRA, and then tell us that that's just his opinion, not the NRA's. If we are supposed to separate him from the NRA, the NRA should separate themselves from him. By the way, if you watch the interview, he wasn't exactly very articulate either. If the NRA cares about gun rights, they need to put better speakers in front of the camera. I'm not claiming to be a good public speaker but I could have given a much more clear defense of the second amendment. It seems like keeping Jackson is a sign that the NRA has one of the same big problems as the republican party - giving people important positions because they like them, because they're in the "in" crowd, instead of actually being the best people for the job.

The NRA shouldn't be pointing fingers at us when it's their representative who screws up. As I said before, Zumbo's statements had far less substance and he gave far more of an apology for them. The NRA should be publicly apologizing for Jackson's statements and considering his removal, not sanctioning his confusing the issue even further. Who ever heard of allowing full autos at restricted capacity while allowing semi-autos at full capacity? I call bull that that's what he was thinking at the time. I'm perfectly open to the possibility that he wasn't actually thinking at the time. But he should admit it and explicitly repent.

No, I'm not saying the NRA is a bunch of gun grabbers. I'm saying that if they don't come out and say that Jackson was wrong for making these statements, they're impotent.

If it ever really hits the fan,we are truely on our own.
At least the bastids could let us be armed to defend us and ours.
No we're not Rave, WE HAVE EACH OTHER. We just need to get our acts together and have somewhere we can all meet before the SHTF so we can stand as one. Yes, this would be a hard and difficult task, but anything worth while is never free or easy.
