Talking Want a Free handgun!!

So i recently went to a shooting range with a marine friend who just got back from Iraq. Before this, i was completely ANTI-GUN and pretty much thought that anyone who had a gun was just a redneck with nothing better to do. I only went because my friend really wanted to take me and i figured the least i could do to thank him for his service was play along and go. I went to the range and figured out that i was not only a pretty good shot, but i really enjoyed it! I got to talk to some of the other people at the range and shoot a variety of guns. My favorite gun i shot was the compact glock 23. All i could think about when i got back home was how much i wanted to go again! So here is my dilemma: my friend is back at Camp Pendleton and i am without access to a gun. I also have way too much to take care of financially to buy one anytime soon. So i figure i'll just go online, find some other gun lovers and simply ask... Does anyone want to give/buy me a Glock? I know... thats probably the dumbest question you've ever heard, but why not ask! what do i have to lose. Someone out there might really want to buy a complete stranger who just got bit by the gun bug and handgun. I dont even need a glock, i'll take anything that anyone wants to give me! There you have it, i really did just ask if someone wants to give/buy me a handgun! Anyways, its probably not gonna happen, but i wanted to join this group anyways and start reading what other gun owners have to say. I will get my Glock somehow, eventually! Until then, i will keep reading and learning more about this new passion of mine. I'm still trying to figure out how i went from pro gun control to a complete gun lover who also happens to be completely unarmed at the moment. See you at the range someday and let me know if you want to give me a free gun, i promise i'll be good to it.

Maybe some one here will give you a gun?

Stay around and the learning fun will begin.

welcome to the forum . but i don't think anyone will "give you thier gun" besides that you can buy one yourself highpoint is a good gun and really affordable 138.00 for a .9mm and it's a tac driver. for under 200.00 you could have any handgun that highpoint makes sure lots of people say they are cheap but i owned one no two and they shot just as good as my glock17 infact i would rather my compact .9mm highpoint over my glock. the only downfall to the highpoinis the takedown and cleaning it's not as fast and simple as a glock or any other gun but it's a great gun with a life time no questions asked warranty. i had a carbine that burned up and they replaced it free of charge and even sent me a extra mag. my testimonial is in the web page for mks industries the name is tommy from louisiana. but my advice is "BUY YOUR OWN GUN " so you can take it home after you shoot it.lol asking a buddy to borrow his gun is like asking him to borrow his girl.with me you got a better chance of borrowing my girl than my guns. i'll give you my wife but my guns and dogs are staying with me sorry.lol

1st WELCOME to Gun and Game and don't be ashamed for asking what you asked.
2nd. Thank You for changing your stance about firearms.

Now start looking a round at the shops in your area and see if they have a layway in order for you to buy the gun most suited for what you want to do.

I'm sad to say you need a pistol today in America because of all the crime being committed.
You never know if you'll have a crime committed against you, but It would pay to be ready if that were to happen.

If you'll hang around this site you'll find were not a bunch of gun crazied people that Anti-Gun folks think we are.

For the most part we are God fearing, Love our country, big group of people who like to hunt, shoot and admire the mystiek of guns. (mis spelled myst???)

May be someone here will arrange a transfer of one of there guns, but it want be me.
Thank you so much for joining...A.H

I doubt seriously if anyone will give you a gun, however, as already mentioned you can go into a reputle gun shop and buy one on lay-away or perhaps use a charge card and pay it off a little at a time. I would opt for the lay-away plan; that way you may only have to pay for the piece itself with no finance charges--- and perhaps the gun dealer will let you use it at his range while paying for it because you are purchesing the firearm. Heck it's worth a try.

The problem with giving a stranger a weapon:

1. Are they old enough to own a firearm?
2. Would they pass a background check were they to buy it themself?
3. Do they plan on committing a crime with the gun "I" am referenced as buying?

Illegal transfer of a firearm is not taken lightly by either the police or licensed firearm dealers. And if used in a crime, it is really looked down upon by the victim.

I don't want to be rude, but you need to learn about the world of firearms, firearm ownership and laws before you find yourself possessing one. To go from liberal, anti-gun beliefs to pro-gun and 2nd ammendment supporter in one day is a big step, and I thank you. But, take some time and learn about laws & lifestyles before you put yourself into a position where you may get yourself into trouble.

Things to look at may be:

1. Does your state, county or city have any firearm bans or regulations that may not be the case in other areas? (a.k.a. Kalifornia and their fixed magazine for ar-15's)

2. What are the carry laws in your state, county, city? Can you carry in your car? Is open carry legal? Are there regulations and requirements for concealed carry?

3. Are there any ammunition regulations in your state, county or city?

4. Is there a max-capacity regulation? For example: Here in Arapahoe county, you can have a magazine with up to 30 round capacity. But, in Denver County (which is only divided by a street from Arapahoe County), a magazine capacity of 20 is the maximum.

5. Do you have children or do they visit your home on a regular basis? What are ways best fit for you to deal with keeping the weapons from them?

6. Is there a reqirement in your area to keep stored weapons with a trigger/chamber lock?

7. Being new to firearms, take a firearms safety class. They are usually fairly inexpensive, offered by the NRA or by private, licensed individuals who have been in law enforcement and/or military. An NRA safety class for handguns generally runs like $45 here in CO and is a 1-day class. Advanced classes are available for additional fees, but that is the basic class which is good for anyone new to gun ownership.

I have had to work my ass off to be able to afford guns and the ammo to shoot them and still be able to pay my bills.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you can't afford the hobby you can't expect everyone else to afford it for you.

Welcome aboard! Unfortunately, you're probably barking up the wrong tree. Trying to get any of us to part with one of our guns is like asking the Pope to pass out condoms at a P Diddy concert.
I would suggest taking a safety class before jumping into the responsibilities of firearm ownership. As you've no doubt learned, a Glock of any sort is going to run around $400 used up to near $600 new(depending on model). If you just wasnt a plinker, try to find a shop in your area that carries mil-surp guns and look for an FEG PA-63 or CZ-52. These can usually be found pretty cheaply and are both fun to shoot and reliable. Another option that is sometimes better for new shooters would be a double-action .38 Special\.357 Mag. revolver. Take a look at Gallery of Guns.com - Gun Gallery, Ruger Firearms, Shooter Online Services, Firearm Industry News, Firearm Dealer, Gun News to compare models and prices.

bjammin Here's a thought why not find a range that rents firearms there out there.

I'll add another site to look for an inexspensive pistol, which is AIM Surplus and Classic Firearms.

I just bought 2ea. CZ 82 pistols from AIM that were in very excellent condition.
The only problem is that you would need someone with a CR or ffl to order it.
The cost for the CZ is $209.00 dollars and an extra $10.00 to hand pick if you want them to pick out the best of 5..Total cost was $ 234.00 which included shipping U.S. Priority mail and I gave my friend 10 bucks per gun for ordering them for me and providing and doing the back ground check.
Good Luck feller...A.H

P.S find you a few yards to mow until you have enough money to buy one or do like tommy another member here he goe's out to the dump and finds scrap metal(s) and sells to recycle centers.
Besides you will prolly appreciate the gun more if you work to get it...A.H

Wow I do believe that was a bold statement. However being bold is a way to get places you never would imagine to go. But my answer is no I* will not give you a gun. hehe. I agree that you can find plenty of good deals out there depending on what you would like to do with it. If you are just wanting to plink at targets get a .22 LR Target Gun. Smith and Wesson makes a nice one for about 200 bucks and the ammo is cheap. 12 bucks for 525 Rounds! Thats the way to shoot on a budget or if you just want to shoot a whole lot. Plus the gun is nice. I have one. It's pretty accurate too.

I have a Smithinski and Wessonich Polish Target Pistol if you're interested. Only fired once and dropped once, recently returned by the Sheriffs Department after the investigation.

This is an amazing coincidence! I've always been anti-fishing, but recently a neighbor took me out on a local lake and I must admit, I'm "hooked' (ha ha...joke)

Anyway, if anyone has a Stratos bass boat with a Yamaha 200hp engine they'd like to give me, I'd appreciate it.

Well, it is an odd request, but anybody here that would give him a gun would certainly do it through a pair of dealers from Gunbroker. Right? So much for the legalities. My advise to him is to get a used Ruger MK II. They cost under $200, the .22 ammo is cheap, and this really is the most fun gun that I ever had.

Okay...I just gave my old car to a charity that fixes them up and gives them to the needy. (really, I did) We need to get a non-profit status and collect old guns to give to the needy, while at the same time getting a tax deduction for the donors. Billy, you take west of the Mississippi, I'll take the East Coast.
