Question Shell Gas Stations are poping up like mushrooms

Shell stations are takeing over down here. They are doing it so fast that many have their sign sitting on the ground leaning against the old sign post with the old signs still attached.
Many are doing this within a few blocks of each other.

They have a higher grade gasoline for your car. Higher than mobile, exxon, and bp.

I have found that Gulf gas gives me the best mileage in my car.

we only get the low grade stuff here, but it's all refined locally, so you wont find a bad gas station around here

Best stuff you can get for your car and for your money is Chevron (aka Standard). The Boeing Company did a study a number of years ago to see which fuel would work best for the buck in their fleet vehicles and they decided on Chevron (related by my father who works there as an engineer of ~27 years).

Every time I put any other fuel in my car, it runs a little worse and then I put Chevron back in and it seems like it suddenly has more power. I also get my best MPG out of their fuel.

Why are you telling us this? There has to be more to this than you are telling. Does this upset you for some reason?

Well, I know there were some in and around Norfolk and Virginia Beach when I drove there in 2001.

Just_a_car,

My best friend, the late Papa Hawg, was a top notch mechanic. Hot rods as a kid, aircraft in Viet Nam, everything from autos to industrial machines as a career, and, of course, Harleys for fun. He swore by Chevron and STP.

Sounds like a helluva guy, there... I'm sorry to hear he's no longer with us, it sounds like he had quite a few interesting stories. He also had good taste in petroleum products.

Isn't Shell Gasoline imported by the Communist, anti-American president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, or whatever???

Just looked it up, you're right EZ. CITGO imports oil to the United States for power plants.

On another note...Chavez has said if we were to invade Venezuela that he would cease exportation of the oil to the United States.
