AT monte carlo stock for M44

I bought an ATI stock for a new m44 carbine project i am working on. Should the barrel float in the barrell channel? It won't pass the dollar test as is. Just wondering if anyone else has the same stock and if they had to san out excess parts of the stock to make the barrell float. I'll post pitures when i am done.

I bought a Monte Carlo stock (can't remember the manufacturer) and the cheek area was so high I could'nt get down low enough to line the sights up.

I had to take it back.

I hope you have better luck that I did.

I think those Monte Carlo-type stocks are intended for scoped rifles, Dale. I bought a Finnish M39 some wingnut had put one on, and had the same problem; couldn't really get down low enough for the iron sights. So I sent it on to a new home, and bought an unissued, postwar stock and hand guard instead. Got sidetracked though, and haven't gotten around to buying the necessary hardware for putting it together.
