Not in North Carolina. My state is awfully finicky about handguns.

If you haven't done anything wrong, don't worry about it. If you have a reason to be worried about it have a lawyer handy just in case. This is why America is free.

LeftyO:I thought that was federal on any consealable firearm. In Michigan you must go to the sheriff,s dept. and obtain a permit to purchase. The background check is included. sam.

| I looked up Minn.law on handguns and it states that to transfer a handgun or assault weapon you have to get a transferee permit from a law enforcement agency.I believe this means the purchaser. There is a lot more including that you dont have to get a transferee permit if you already have a permit to carry a handgun. In Michigan it is the same except it states a concealed carry license. Also in Mich.you must have all concealable weapons registered.Even plack powder.I believe our laws are very simmilar.

That is not true at all. Here you can buy a gun from anybody off the street and it is completely legal. It is going through the FFL that leaves the paper trail. I can't tell you have many guns I have bought and sold to people at gun shows.

If it was me I would contact a lawyer ASAP and ask him or her about your rights & what to do if they show up. Remember they can find any reason to do what ever they want. For them to get a warrant is no problem. Anything you say to them can be used against you. This is not something to mess with. Get good sound legal advise. We all have ideas about what to do. OPINIONS but if those that have posted what to do are not lawyers then you might be sending this guy the wrong way. If there are a LEOs here from your State they maybe able to give you an idea as to what to say or not. I hope they don't come. Because once they get on your trail you will have to look over your shoulder for a long time. Best Wishes

Oh, and as far as I know if an officer legally stops a vehicle(for whatever reason) the driver/passengers can't refuse to talk. They can refuse searches but not talking. I didn't really watch the video or go to the site but, believe it or not there are some people who are crazy, maybe she was or maybe she wasn't. I agree with you that america needs more americans though. p.s. if it were me I dunno what to do about letting them in. Part of me says yes and part says no. But I'd definately talk to them and answer any/all questions TRUTHFULLY. Also I'd say that burying any of the guns that you've bought in the past year or so might not be such a good idea. Definately screams suspicious activity,(why would you bury a gun) and might make a search warrant easier. Remember they WANT to search your home, if you don't let them fine but then they're gonna be looking for a way to get a judge to sign a warrant. Last edited by george_l; 09-14-2007 at 06:44 PM. | |

sam, while its true you need a pistol purchase permit to buy a handgun from a dealer, you can purchase from idividuals face to face with no paperwork.

I think its good for the law to be that way but dont understand how you can be sure you arent selling to a fellon or some nut that would go on a killing spree. If you did sell to someone like that I bet you would be in big trouble. sam.

Also, if you're doing something face to face and you don't know the person that well, ask to see their Concealed permit if they have one and their picture ID. That way, you can be certain they've gone through the check at least once and cleared. Now, they may not still be legal to buy, but you can tell a judge that you checked and they had a Concealed permit and that's a lot better than just taking their word.
