Personally, I've been looking very hard at this item: TAPCO-World's finest shooting and military gear -

But I have no idea if it works well or not.

Like you, I've heard that the B-Square mounts suck and that the claw mounts can be hit-or-miss. I've had my CETME for a while now and would love to hear what other CETME owners have found to be "the best" for them.

The claw mounts often need a bit of 'tweaking' of the claws and the pads. Careful filing and fitting. Many of these mounts (especially if the price is just too good to be true!) are airsoft units, of questionable reliability for a real gun.

I've had a claw mount for my CETME for a while now. I can't say it's the best thing, but it's not bad. Theres a area on the CETME receiver that seems to be a place to mount the claw style mount where you'll find two raised areas on each side of the reciever, problem is, my mount will slide foward of those all the way up till it gets stopped by one of the claws "legs" hittinf the ejection port. So, I've just decided to mount it there so that it can't move foward any more. That worked, but then created another problem. Now the scope with shift to the right after a few shots and throught it off, and you can jerk the scope back to into place if you mant, but chances are, it'll only get looser. I plan on trying to shim it up nice and tight and test it out soon. I'll let you know how that part goes, and if it works well, then that's the way I'd suggest going because it's quick to mount, and dismount and theres no modification needed.

Well, I do recall someone somewhere on the net saying they threaded the hole that's in the top of the receiver above the scope mounting area so that they could lock down a mount.

Maybe there's a way to use that little hole to "locate" a mounting tab that's attached/welded to a mount so that it doesn't move anywhere left, right, forwards or back.

You'd just have to be sure the tab isn't more than the thickness of the receiver at that location, since the bolt assembly is seen when looking through the hole.

I used a Bi-rail claw mount from Tapco, model MNT-606H, it did slip until I went to a forum and learned how to properly mount the mount. There is a hole in the top of the reciever into which you can thighten a set screw that is in the mount. This will keep the mount from walking, however, be careful not to screw the set screw in to deep or you will foul the bolt. Also, don't tighten the claws to tight or you will squeeze the reciever and again foul the bolt. After I learned these things (the hard way), mine has been working fine.

I agree. My spanish select fire has had a b-square mount on it for 10 years now. Also topped it with a simmons 4x12x40 but for awhile used a bushnell 6x24x50 but went back to the simmons as the bushnell put the center of gravity much to forward and made my cetme too heavy up front. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thank u

I hate to bring up an old post. I bought a Cetme last night (gun broker). I have a Millett DMS I want to mount on it. Is anyone familiar with any of the mounts over at...

Mounts-Florida GunWorks - Parts for the AR15, AK47, FNFAL, HK, Mini 14, Mini 30 & MP5 at Florida Gun Works

Particularly the low mounts.

I have the chance to pick up a ARMS claw mount for a decent price too are those any good?

I don't own one so I may be wrong, but. If you slide the claws as far forward as they can go, they can't slide forward anymore under recoil. That's what I do with every other mounted accessory I have on any rail. If it's already as far forward as it can go, it can't slide anymore.

It may have been mentioned before, but, that particular mount has a set screw that extends into the oiling hole on the top of the receiver to keep it from sliding. I have the same mount on my CETME and it works great. I would reccomend a compact scope so that tou won't get a kink in your neck trying to achieve proper eye relief, or a black eye.

Do you mean the ARMS mount? I missed out on it either way. I'm highly considering the MFI mount though with high rings.

I want a basic setup, I don't want to change the wooden stocks but I do want the best mount possible. I plan on putting a black hawk cheek rest on the butt stock as well.

I'll post pictures on here once the Cetme comes in (bought it on gun broker) and once I decide what mount I should go with.

Mr. loaf or can I call u meat? It depends on the receiver that you have. If you have a stainless receiver then the claw will work if not the stamped steel will bend around the claw and make the rifle misfire.

My Cetme hasn't come in yet. How can I tell the difference between receivers when she does get here?

I used the Tactical Mount (shown in the link on post #13). It used to slide but i threaded the rear hole on the top of the receiver. Then just used the small screws the mount came with and went in just enough so that it didnt hit the BCG. Lock Tighted all screws, since then I have put about 200 rounds throught it and have not had a problem.

My only compaint about the mount it that it sits pretty high so i had to get a cheek riser to strap on the buttstock. Quick easy fix.
