yesterday i was outside doing some stuff and my lab started making some wierd noises so i called over to him and he didn't look so good. i went run over to him and i seen huge puddles of blood that he was thowing up. he was also having alot of trouble breathingi knew he had heart worms but i never seen a dog do this from heart worms.we was bleeding to death so i thought of who i could call to come and put him down for me but i had knowone. i got my ruger.22 pistol and got him to follow me to the back as for as he could walk and i told him good by and laid him down and put and put a towel over his head when i laid him down he started to breath even harder because of the blood in his lungs and stuff. his name was "buddy" i sat there with him for a few minutes til his heart stopped and my eyes cleared up then i went and picked up the gun. he was a big dog about 70 plus pounds i beariedhim next to my golden retriever that died last year. the hardest thing you will ever do is put down your own friend. i took these pictures last week.

Tommy I will grieve with you, your friend will always be in your heart and memory and I pray it will bring you comfort. I lost my wee buddy Ming not long ago and I know how much it can hurt.

Sorry Tommy, I know how hard it can be to lose a pet. It's funny how close to them you can get, and how much of a hole it can leave when their gone. My wife and her mom/dad had to put their cat to sleep a few months ago, was almost 20 years old. I don't know what other animals you have, but getting another pet really can help make it easier.
It's a terrible thing when you lose such a good friend, and so hard to say goodbye. A rose garden sounds like the perfect tribute and final gift for such deserving friends.

yea i got plenty of friends 3 chihuahas/1 yellow lab /1 dwarf rabbit/and 8 cats.buddy used to ride in the gator . it was funny cause he got out of his kennel one day and he ran and jumped into the back of the gator and stayed there til i got home wich was about 6 hours later.he even raised his leg to take a leak out the gator and squated out the back of the gator instead of getting out.
Durn it tommy... you got me all teared-up here in the middle of the undergraduate library at my university. *sniff*
I had to have my dog put down due to a very large cancerous tumor on his paw that got so big it split his skin. Worst part is he looked a lot like Buddy; he was a black lab/springer spaniel mix.
My sympathies go out to you.

they don't call them mans best friend for nuthin.i take my 3 chicano's with me everywhere's if i say the word bye-bye they come runnin. buddy used to go wild when he would see me even get close to the gator.i feel lost today.i don't like killin animals and man it was rough shooting my own pet.yea man this is life huh.
Part of your Love for Buddy is why you gave him a humane and quick death rather than to hold on to false hope, to be honest my friend you could not have done any greater kindness out of love for your friend and companion. God be with you and ease your grief.

That's a good idea, tommy.
We have a humongous Oleander bush in about the center of our property, and we've buried our pets in a circle around it for eighteen years; everything from rats and parakeets up to dogs. It's kind of a blooming memorial to all of them.
Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
My parents asked me if could put down our Ausie shepherd of 17 years because she had bone disease. I told my mom I couldn't do it. She was too close to our family for me to do that. I do understand the pain.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your pet, Buddy. They're so innocent with never ending love of their master. Gotta be one of the hardest things to do.
I've put down two dogs myself, and had the vet enthenize my last dog when it was beyond hope of recovery of health issues. That still bothers me when I think about the circumstances.
tommy, I'm sorry to hear what happened. I'm also happy to see that you were there to see him in his last moments, instead of him dying a lot slower and more painful way.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
all the best,
Chris
Tommy, I can tell what a wonderful friend Buddy was. I've got a dog named "Buddy" also, a beagle mix, and would grieve deeply for him. There's a special sadness for the loss of a fine dog, they show us unconditional love and are truly "man's best friend." You have my prayers.

Well, I know how you feel. We rescue dogs, and love them all. I've had to bury two beloved friends, Blaze and Buddy, (both golden retrievers), ....miss them everyday. Their collars hang on my review mirror of my truck, they ride with me always.
We have 8 dogs, that we could not part with, and they make our lives richer, I wish I could only be the person my dogs think I am.
I do belive that, we will, one day, reunite in a great field, with the warm sun shinning, cool breeze blowing and they are free of pain, and are young, vibrant and together they see me walking across that great field and relize it is, I, their master. They, inunison, break into a dead run, with happiness in their hearts, coats glowing, ears flapping, and so glad to see me, without judgement and full of unconditional love. They now know that we will be together foever.
