I think if anyone really feels they need to buy that for their kid, they need to seriously consider moving so that their kid can go to a safer school or walk though a safer neighborhood.

Many of us carry a gun hoping to never need them. Should we also move to a safer area? This backpack is another form of protection. This way in the even of a school shooting the child can have some form of protection. They could use it as a sheild or wear it on their back as they run away from a gunman. There are crazy people everwhere. Of course a backpack full of books would also be pretty effective at stopping a bullet. Maybe they just need more homework!

I'm with BloodRed, if your kid needs that then it's time to move. On the other hand if I was a bad guy i would definately want a couple of those.

I think it's a good idea, but it's another passive way of defending yourself. Not to mention that small area that it covers is just not enough protection.

Its an idea with good intentions, but it just shows how far we have fallen as a society, sending our children to school with body armor. The backpacks just arn't good enough to fully protect a child in the event of an armed intruder.

I wish I could afford one for my child..
I don't have the luxury of being able to move away when things get rough though, or pay for a "safer" school.

My city has one of the highest crime rates in the nation..

Ok, I see your point and agree. There is always that what if situation, but I still think if as soon as you saw that you said that you need to buy that for your kid, you really need to think about where you live.

And to Burke, I am sorry but I do not feel it is a luxury to move away or send your child to a different school. I think it is called the responsiblity of the parent to provide the safest enviroment for your child. If you need to you should be more than willing to make any and all sacrifices for your child. They should be the #1 priority in your life and if you worry about there safety, you need to do what ever you can to take that worry away. I understand you can't cover everything will out letting your child live in a bubble, but if you are worried every day that your child is going to get shot, you need to move and do what ever it takes to make that happen.
