Any Rem. mod. 760 30-06 owners?

I just bought a well used 760 in 30-06 slide-pump and I was wandering if anyone out there owns one or ever has?
I know squat about it except by reputation but I like what I see. I'm a south-paw and the slide works great for me.
How are the ballistics? What is the best ammo to use for say white-tail, etc.
Any trouble spots I need to watch out for?
Thanks for you help.

The 30-06 is a great hunting cartridge, because there are tons of different types of ammo for it. For whitetail, I'd say go for 150grain bullets. They weigh plenty enough to bring down the whitetail, and by being that light, they will travel at almost 3000fps, sometimes more.

As for ammo, I love Winchester Ballistic Silvertips (the nylon ones, not the old big silver tips). I also like federal nosler tips.

I don't know much about your rifle, but the pump action is probably one of the most reliable actions out there. Remington is known for making very good barrels as well, so I'd say the Barrel + Action + Caliber = One awesome whitetail gun

My dad and my sister both have the Remington M760 in the 06. It has served both of them well. My dad has killed many deer with his and a few elk as well. Also their fairly accurate to boot. You cant go wrong with the 06 either for any north american game. Maybe not for big bears, but I have heard people use them on bears with varying degrees of success.
