So I set out to buy supplies for emergency wilderness survival...only what I can fit in a small back pack. The list includes :
- a pancho
- compass
- multi tool
- yet another knife...lol
- small first aid pack
- 100' utility cord
- waterproof butane lighter
- small magnifying glass... incase the lighter is not so waterproof.
- few small spring loaded "yoyo" fishing reels, or limb reels. Ofcourse hooks etc. These things are also great for traps.
- some clean water tablets/metal cantine
So I get to the car, and my wife stops at another store, and rolls her eyes as she gets out and I stay behind to check out my new supplies. I'm like "whatever", I'm in hunting season/survival mode.
So I break out the knife and go to open one of the packages, and straight away slice my freakin thigh open...lol She gets back to the car and has a good laugh when she sees my first aid pack being put to good use, lol. Jesus...
Some women have very little appreciation for the skills required as a man to successfully injure oneself at the most innoportune moment and regard it as something soley for thier amusement.
One can only attempt to regain whats left of ones dignity and soldier on survivor!!! Regards.

Looks like you may want to add some super glue to your pack to seal those cuts! Just think - it could have been worse - you could have hit dead center of your lap instead of your thigh!!!!
see now that would never have happened here - I do all the warden's (I mean hubby's) packing for his trips - I also love going to the outdoor stores because for some reason I get a better deal on supplies - he complained once about what I pack for him and having the opportunity to be with him on a trip where he did the unthinkable and got us stuck - he was ever so greatful for my extra food, water, blanket etc that I always have in a smaller survival pack - no more complaints now about how much I pack along for him

Haha, you used your survival kit sooner than you expected
Quote:
Water, Food, Duct tape, Bullets, Magazines, good ones.
Duct tape would be good to add, but Water, Food, Bullets, and Magazines wouldn't and probably shouldn't be on my list.
Instead of water, pack something to filter water. Food should probably be either brought on its own, or foraged from the wild. Food weighs a lot, and spoils.
As for Bullets and Magazines, my gun will be on me, not in my survival pack, and my gun probably won't use a magazine. I tend to think that in that situation, simpler is better, includes how my gun operates.
"- small magnifying glass... incase the lighter is not so waterproof."
Substitute a watertight container of water-proof matches, and a spark lighter with tender - much easier to use. If it's raining, the glass is dead weight.
TP!!! You don't appreciate it til you DON'T have it.
Try sheltering under a poncho before relying on it. I like my 2.5lb bivy tent instead.
A collapsible water container or hydration bladder in the pack. Gotta carry water somehow. A botabag is good too. Don't forget the purifier tablets.
A GI canteen with metal cup - all I use for food prep! It fits on the pack belt or pants belt. Also a small folding Esbit pocket stove with solid fuel tabs - hot food tastes better!
An LED headlight - indispensible for night-time chores or movement. Batteries last a long time in LED lights. Pack a few spare batteries too.
A light-weight hatchet - good for driving/pull tent stakes, and chopping kindling and light fire wood.
