This list was compiled to be made less or bigger depending on the type of trip being taken - if you have the ability to set up a base camp - you will obviously pack a little more comforts of home - if you are doing an Alpine hike and hunt - you will pack in the bare minimum for survival - I compiled this list for a Hunter's cooking and important information book I wrote as well as I make sure freinds and family have the needs required when going into the wilderness - we can come into contact with Grizzaly bears, cougars, wolves, and other predators in the regions of BC ibckuding black widows and rattle snakes - so overkill in preperations may be your opinion but for me it is all safety and survival. I can live off the land just as much as I can pack what I want for comforts of home - this list was just given as a guideline,

goodness gracious - do y'all not get the concept of a base camp - we pack the daily necessities when leaving camp - there are many different types of packs as well as how u set up your camps - depending on the type of trip you are making depends on what you bring with you - this list is just an idea for a base camp - set up for 2 -7 days

our packs weigh up to 50 lbs and then on top we hike out with animals quartered on the pack boards

base camp things are brought in with truck,quad - wall tent accomodations or sometimes my cabin

No offense intended but the post had the terms "hike" and "survival" in it and did not mention anything about assistance from a flatbead or some such.

Why not just get a Winnebago for a survival shelter?

Might park it near Miami or 'Vegas.
