I am sorry to inform you that I just purchased a new Walther P22 Dec 2008 and have tried 4 different ammo variations and have had multiple problems with them all. I am a little more than suspicious of all of the raving reviews due to the issues I have had. I have broken it down and cleaned and lubed well as specified in the Walther Manual. It does not extract fired shells well, they actually get stuck on top of the next shell to go in. It also will not reload the next round 50% of the time when it does a complete extraction. It has really dissappointed me since a lot of the reviews said quite the opposite. All I can say is be careful. I have the latest serial number and generation so Walther cannot use that as an excuse. I would recommend calling Walther you can get their number from their site waltheramerica.com I wish I had and ask them why you had to read a review like this. Don't get me wrong if Walther fixes all of the issues I will keep the gun and enjoy it but as is I have to say it is the worst firearm I have ever purchased so buyer beware. I own alot of guns and do competition shooting and I cannot depend on this one. I am confused as to why I have the latest Generation but my magazines have the letter B on them and the letter A is suppose to be better. It also mis-fired several times and I could not extract the unfired round which really ticked me off. Walther needs to do much better quality control before shipping these out to their dealers.

I wish you would print my review and read it to them and ask what they have to say about it and email me their response to dploof@gmail.com please do not give them my email address because I am starting a claim for repairs and want to make sure they take care of me but be very cautious before your purchase.

I have had a Ruger Semi auto pistol for years and have fired any ammo you can imagine thru it and it has never given me a moments trouble.

Good luck and I look forward to getting your email after you contact Walther.

I have one and have fed a few hundred rounds of Remington Jacketed LR from Wal-Mart without a single malfunction.
A couple of things I don't like about it is the safety is stiff, you can't just quickly thumb the safety, and the last round always ejects straight back.
Aside from that, it's accurate, dependable and fun.

I have one too, I believe it is one of the first generations, but I did need ot send it back to S&W to be 'de-assault weaponed" so now I can't remove the barrel.

Have never had any real issues with it. I feed mine Remington Thunderbolts and CCI MiniMags - anything high velocity and round nose and it goes off without a hitch. If I were to have a CCW license, this would be the gun of my choice (for now at least). Bulk ammo only goes in my H&R 944.

It's difficult to compare to a Ruger MKIII or Buckmark, both are fine pistols, but those are field pistols and much larger with more steel. The P22 is a lightweight, and more of a scaled down service pistol as to it's controls. Using the CCI Stingers gave me one issue, it would cause me to tap the magazine release - just had to change my grip - wouldn't that be embarrasing in a mousegun fight!
