Wink Guns for Gas.

Cleveland, the first 450 folks to turn their guns in will receive a $100.00 gas card, authorities say this will reduce the crime rate.

Yep. If I'd been out there robbing and stealing for a living, I'd sure want to give up my tools of the trade for a hundred bucks worth of gas...

I would think it would increase crime as they would have to go steal another gun to turn in to get more gas cards to trade for more drugs. They dont buy guns or gas, they steal them. So why else would they want gas cards except to trade for drugs. This one is confusing me,think I'll give up. sam.

I'd say the ones who are confused are the ones who dreamed up this nitwit idea in the first place, Sam.

Guns for gas

Brother, that's got to be part of the communist UN manifesto. That violates the 2 nd. But if you have a gun that doesn't work, it's worth it.

I've got a couple of real junkers that I'd trade in a heartbeat if they ever did that around here.

I don't understand how offering to give someone a hundred bucks for his gun violates the 2nd Amendment. Last I heard, people had a right to sell a gun for whatever they can get and any time they want, assuming they legally own it.

It isn't unconstitutional; it's just stupid.

Red face

"It isn't unconstitutional; it's just stupid."

Agreed. I challenge anyone to show me where a 'gun buy-back' ever reduced crime? It's flawed logic.
But if someone wants to offload an old junker for 30 gallons of gas, that's their business. Better deal than selling it to a pawnshop, for sure.

"Honey, I traded your Grandad's old twennytwo for a tank of gas! Now we can go to the Mall . . . !!"

I'll go one better!!!
I'll give anybody a $100.00 gas card and throw in an oil change too. LOL
(shucks, that's only about 20 gals of gas and a $30 oil change)
Come on guys, get PC and sheepled up and turn in your nasty black rifles to me and get 6 gals. of gas. Sweet deal, open to anyone, unlimited offer.
I'll even work something out w/you for your ammo.
Ain't I a nice guy?

p.s. AH, don't try to horn in here now, I'll cut you in on duplicates and such later.
Snuffy

The thing about the "buy backs" is I've never seen them net any 'crime guns'. Looking at what gets turned in, I always see the same things . . .
Old .22 rifles, that Junior lost interest in.
BB and pellet guns.
Rusty old shotguns that stood in Gramp's closet for thirty years unused.
Crusty old Cap&Ball revolver repros.
Even the occasional toy gun, with grey cylinder and red barrel cap!

The street punk won't turn in the tools of his trade. He knows he can sell it for more to another punk, if it gets too hot for him to carry.
