Hey Samuel, thanks for your reply. The cartridge is 8mm mauser, not much different from .30-06. I'm wondering about where these knobs should be at when it is zeroed. You'd think that when the gun is sighted in the knobs should both be at zero, so that if you make adjustments in the field according to yardage or wind, you could set them back to zero without having to remember how many clicks it was to go back. I'm not sure if this is possible, I really don't know much about the scope and there wasn't a manual included, just an MOA table and a Range Estimate Table. The scope was a gift and it just so happens that the scope I planned on using on this rifle is a 3-9X40 with lighted reticle. Maybe this scope is overkill for a deer rifle, but anyway I would like to someday learn to use it's rangefinding features, just want to get it zeroed in for the time being.
