2b41 is right the shot gun is a close in defense weapon. and i would practice with it as so. unless your planning on hunting with it and it's a hunting shotgun i wouldn't worry about practicing shots out at 50/100 yards. those are hunting and stalking shot ranges and not self defense range shots.

My industrial facility security handbook says 00 buck is good to 25 yards. If thats teh book they train DHS professionals with i'd imagine its accurate. I currrently have a Nova Tactical and could never see it working anywhere above 35 yards.. But thats just specualtion as I'm quite a rookie
