I just watch the Tues episode of the Unit in which one of the team gets killed (Sgt. Williams), the memorial service at the very end of the show was really heavy. I'm not ashamed to admit I had a lump in my throut. A fitting tribut for all our fallen boys.
Same here. Reminds me of visiting my friend at the Air Force base during the first gulf war, we boarded a C5 just in from the mid east and saw the flag covered caskets, seven of them, in the middle of the cargo deck. I came to attention for a moment before climbing the ladder to the flight deck. I get the same feeling from the Vietnam Memorial.

Snuffy, I understand exactly what you mean. I have never gotten emotional over television, but that one gripped me. Forget lump in the throat dude, I went all the way. What it stood for is amazing, reguardless of it being fictional. The sad part is, things like that actually happen, and we never know what sort of heroic things the unnamed heroes do for us. God bless the men and women serving our country who go threw that.
N29,
I just noticed your location, I'm in Jax, about two miles north of the airfield,(off base) get lulled to sleep by the 130's coming in at night.
If your ever need a hand or want to drink a cup, give me a shout. I'm retired and have no job to tie me up. Good to see your post and talk to you later.
Haha, thats crazy. Believe it or not, I live in Cabot, and I too get to hear the 130's. I'm kinda used to it now, though. That song, "It's a Small World, Afterall" seems appropriate. We'll have to get together sometimes. I go to the range in Mayflower, over by Camp Robinson, just about every other weekend. We should definitley go shootin' sometime.
I was having lunch in the Flying J at Joplin MO. with a friend, the guy at the next table was Airborne in BDU. I told the waitress to give me his check. He stopped at my table to say "Thank You." I told him it was my pleasure. When I told my friend why I did that he started doing the same thing, I hope this is a trend that continues.

I am a member in the Patriot Guard Riders. Of all the activities we do, it is meeting the plane bringing home one of our fallen that gets to me the most. When that flag covered coffin comes off that plane and we are standing there in our flag line, it is that one single moment when the finality of it comes on and it is all I can do to not openly sob. I am generally successful in keeping it to a few tears down the cheek but later when I am alone, that is a different matter.
