I know someone already has a thread by this title, but it didn't address what I noticed.
I knew that Wolf was using new casing, so when I got my new order of ammo, it didn't surprise me at all when they were different colors. However, when I removed the bullets from an old Wolf 7.63x39 hollow point and from a new round, I found that they are using a different bullet. Has anyone else noticed this?

Nope hadn't noticed it. Have you weighed the bullets? Looks like one is noticeable larger.

The longer bullet isn't the 154gr hunting load is it?

They're the same weight. I'm just curious as to why they would go to the trouble of changing the design.

No. They are both the typical Wolf hollow point. The old one is just what's left of the ammo I got with my SKS when I bought it.

The only way they could be the same weight is to be made out of different metals as one is larger than the other. Maybe they switched to a different metal to cut cost and had to change the design to keep the weight the same. Just speculation though!

Now I didn't get a pic of it, but it looks like to me that there's some sort of plastic in the back of the old bullet where it should be lead. I thought it was my imagination to start with, but I can poke a needle in it easier than I could in lead, so I don't think its metal.

They have the same jacket. The old is several years older than the new. Its a tad bit discolored where it was exposed to handling. If you notice, you'll see that where the old bullet was encased, its the same color as the new bullet.

From what I have Gathered, Wolf has Several different Russian Plants making the Wolf line for them, so it could just be different Mfg. in order for them to keep up with U.S.Demand. They List standard ball, HP, as well as Classic ammo for the 7.62X39 . Steel cases as well as Bi-metal cases...
