They could make it without the stock as a pistol or with a 16" barrel as a carbine.
I actually had a similar idea a while back, but much less state of the art, for a sort of straightline pistol. Glad they're making it in 45. I'd be a little concerned with the wear on the cammed recoil system, but I suppose modern lubricants may take care of that.

If one has a Class II Manufacturer's license, he can build one for his own use, and sell it to Government and Law Enforcement, but NOT to a citizen. My shooting buddy looked into that at one time.
A semi-auto could be interesting. We need some more pistol-caliber carbine options, especially in .45ACP.
As far as .45 sub-machine guns go the H&K UMP .45 looks really good and i heard it was more controllable full-auto than the .9mm Mp5 i don't know if thats true but thats what i heard, a semi-auto one would be nice though

Yes, because everybody know's the machilne guns made prior to 1986 are total crud and could'nt kill a fly. Really, someone actually gets paid to make this crud up?

That's a major reason for the skyrocketing prices of full auto - only so many saleable weapons out there for the average guy. It's a seller's market, for sure.
My buddy just sold his Cobray MAC11 for three times the original purchase price. He said he wishes he'd bought more back then - about 2001. They are excellent investments - far better return than a 401k.
I cant wait to see the civillian model, perhaps they can make a pistol with the same 2 degree recoil! I would pay alot for that worth not buying a new gun for a full year to save up for it. It's gotta be exspensive.
If you're looking for a submachine gun as a home defense weapon, to my way of thinking you'd be better off with an Ingram, an Uzi or even an old M3 Grease Gun. Smaller, shorter, easier to maneuver in tight quarters and proven designs that won't break the bank - if you have the right caliber of license to own one and if you can find one.

i would say Bushmasters ar15 pistol is better suited in my opioin , laser on it and shoot to kill!
