the Soviets thought so for about the last 70 years or so. like I said before, penetration, while good in most cases can be bad in others. How would you feel if you shot a bad guy and the bullet goes through him, a couple of walls and kills someone innocent in the house or neighbors house? guns are tools and each job has a tool to do it.

Thanks but they're out of blued for $139 and id love to have the chrome but it's $199. So I think ill probably go with J&G for the CZ52, I was very impressed with they're prices on the double barrel 12 and the Mossberg 12.

Wolf makes some JHP ammo, but think twice before using FMJ ammo in your home.

In my opinion, it wouldn't be the best gun for a home invasion, for a couple of reasons.

1. As stated before, the gun shoots a very high velocity projectile. It will go through the invader, whoever is behind him, the wall behind that person, and probably who ever is in that next room.

2. Muzzle Flash. I've never fired one, but from what I've seen and heard online, they have a heck of a flash that will distract you when firing (it might distract the enemy also, but will definitely distract you).

Gunney, you seem to like revolvers....don't you have a .357mag that you could use for home defense by shooting .38's out of it?

The guns you've listed are great plinking guns, and were great military guns, but would be at the bottom of my list as far as a home defense gun goes.

Thankfully, with the money that a Cz-52 costs, you can save up and get a really nice home defense gun within a couple of years.

EDIT: Don't you have a Glock in .45? That's about as good as you're going to do for home defense

Your G22 would be an excellent home defense gun. I would buy the CZ-52 with intentions to shoot a lot for cheap and have fun, but knowing that if the zombies come, it can be used to stop them

need to replace recoil spring, spent cases should land 6-8 feet away, also it could cause damage with such a violent recoil.

Box-O-Truth did a comparison of rounds and penetration. Look at this report. The 7.62x25 round is really hot...

The Box O' Truth #29 - The Helmets O' Truth - Page 1

I've got one and it's really accurate. The darn small sights are tough for old eyes, but once you get used to it...you can't miss.

dgray64 beat me to the posting of the Box O' Truth page. I have two. The only problems I have had are misfires. I can see the dimpling of the pin into the primer but no bang. I feed the same round through a second time and bang. I suspect it is the ammo, not the weapon.

For home defense, the CZ52 has too much penetration, little expansion and lots of muzzle flash, not to mention noise. We tested a CZ52 on a disgarded Class 2 vest. We folded it in half and duct taped it to a barrel. The CZ52 went through both thicknesses of the vest, the barrel and kept on going. I tried one for bowling pins once. Went right through the pins. Barely knowcked them over on the way through. Noise and muzzle flash is more lke a hot loaded 357. They are a ball to shoot and reload for. With hot handloads you can drive 90 grain XTP's at around 1700 FPS. Best to use heavier recoil springs when doing this and work up loads slowly. For home defense, you'll shoot through walls. If you hit the bad guy, he'll have little bitty holes.
