please help to answer question about scope issue on slug gun
I have a single shot Braztech/Rossi 12 ga slug gun. I have a 3x9x40 Nikon prostaff scope. Weaver grand slam rings.
here is what happened,
the scope has slid on me a little bit. I have the rings very tight but you can see 2 millimeters or so of where the scope has moved. I am using hornady sst slugs. Do you guys suggest different rings and if so which ones. Thanks
IF the rings were as tight as they should be , that scope will not slide from 12 ga. Recoil, that being said, you can Loosen the rings , apply a few drops of loctite ("Removeable strength" )to the top and bottom of the rings, and re-torque them...Let it set overnight before using. I shoot some very High power stuff and Never have had a scope move when properly tightened with those rings.

thanks for the help I will take it to the guy who helps me and do that
Have you considered one the quality red dot sights rather than an expensive scope designed for a big game rifle? I agree the scope should not slide but feel it is the wrong instrument for a slug gun most likely not to be shot at targets of great distance.
Have mounted lotsa scopes on shotguns up to and including 10 gas. I f the scope is slipping in the rings try rosin on the inside of the rings. Some rings come with friction paper to be used on the inside of the rings such as Burris and Millet. This seems to work very well also. We use Burris Z Rings mostly with Weaver Bases with very few problems. We only use Loc-tite on the screws for the bases. Also if Loc=Tite not available, clear finger nail polish works well, cheaper to. Learned that years ago while attending the S&W Armors school in Springfield, Mass.
