Detroit got the title of the most dangerous city back from St. Louis. Motor City named nation's most dangerous - Yahoo! News It sucks because I live like 20 minutes from downtown Detroit. Am I worried? no, I have been to Detroit a lot, I have never felt endangered or that my life was threatened. I have been on the eastside (the most dangerous) and only a couple times did my instincts tell me something was up. Now I do humanitarian work in downtown Detroit, giving out food. I like to help out as much as I can. This just makes it look worse than it really is. |

Something those lists of "most dangerous cities" don't really show is who's actually getting killed. In most metropolitan areas the violence isn't really randomly spread; it's confined to a relatively small part of the population. If you aren't a gangbanger or part of the drug scene, and don't live next door to those who are, your chances of getting shot are a whole lot lower than the raw statistics would seem to indicate.
