I'm not surprised to hear this at all CI...a few years back Weatherby had recall on their vanguard rifles, but it was only a certain group of them. The ones that were sold at Wal-Mart. I would suspect that it's pretty common so that the big box stores can keep their prices lower than the small guys.

also, dont make us cram a 50 inch plasma in a Pontiac G6, we might break it if you've got $1400 to spend go to a knowledgeable local shop. Sony, Sanyo, Samsung, a few others that i've forgotten are supposed to be reliable Last edited by cubbieman; 11-22-2007 at 06:11 AM. | |

For doorbuster sales, this is true. the downgrade it to lower the price. This is especially true in computers. The change model numbers, and you can't find them anywhere else. Do research on the model you want, don't settle for less. don't buy acoustic research wires....but if you are looking for HDMI it doesn't matter...it's either digital or not. If you are looking for quality sound, then get some nice ones, monster cables are pretty good just find them cheap online.

What Chris said. All HDMI cables are of equal quality. Monster is just overpriced. Newegg.com - Link Depot 7FT HDMI TO HDMI A/V Cable Model HDMI-HDMI-2 - OEM This will do just as good as a $100 monster cable. |

Call me old fashion, but I haven't seen anything on TV in years that was worth spending 1-2K on. Like I did for micro-waves, vcrs, dvd players, etc. I'll wait for the price to come down after all the hubbub is over. When everyone has one after everything goes digital the price will come down to fair. I'm funny that way, I don't buy new just to have the newest thing. There's a squirrel playing round in the oak tree about 50 yds. from me, I'm going to watch him and pretend to shoot him and think about how good he'd taste. Later Snuffy

If 1400 is your budget for a new tv you should be able to find many options. My best suggestion is go to a store (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc) with some idea of features you want. Then find some of the tv's they have what you want and compare them visually. I have seen many tvs that are HD that live up to the name. Plus The tv's they have on display are almost constanty running so you see how they hold up in the long run. good luck.

CI - I'm still a psuedo-luddite - I'm on rabbit ears . . . ![]() I don't watch enough telly to justify the cost of cable, and satellite is totally out of the question. Heck, I only finally went DVD because the VHS is nearly dead and gone! But, I reckon I'll start looking at these new-fangled video machines . . . ![]() I'm a man, and I can change, I guess, if I have to . . .

Not sure if you know big dog but you can get HD reception over air ways like your doing now with the rabbit ears. so if you ever decided to get one you could still get your local channels in HD without the cost of cable or satellite providing that broadcast a HD signal most of ours do but not all.

My parents got a sony tube-type widescreen HD this year. The thing's 190 pounds but just beautiul. It was like 600something. You've supposedly got a year and a half before the fcc shuts off your tv airwaves to free up the bandwidth. Cable/sat or nothing. |

I still think the prices MUST drop dramatically, or the sponsors will lose much of their audience/customer base. Folks on a tight budget won't pay a grand to let their kiddies watch Sesame Street. I saw the prices on CD players drop by a factor of ten over a couple year's time. The same should occur with the digital HD TV's. Technically, they are cheaper to produce than the old CRT machines. We're paying for the "WOW!" factor. ![]() Bring them down to a level comparable to current TV sets, and we Cheap SOB's will buy . . . One feature I'd be interested in is the ability to connect to the PC, to copy/download programs onto DVD, and then use software for manipulation/modification.
