You can do a lot better than 25 yards. Throw on a Trulock Full choke, and try a pattern at 50 yards. You will be pleasantly surprised. Note: Aim about 8 inches high.

I just patterned Federal 3" 00 Buck from my Remington 870 with a full choke from about 50 yards. 8 of the 15 .33cal balls hit within 4 inches of the bullseye. Good enough for me, and probably a dead deer

if i was going to use a shot gun anything over 40yards i would get a slug barrel. I have seen a few deer taken with them, one even at 100 yards.

yeah i wouldent go ne farther than 50 yards in my slug gun i load up my first shot with a 3inch magnum slug. Right after than i put in a 00 buckshot so i could technically "spray" the deer as its running away.i can shoot my slugs about 125 150 and buckshot about 50 yards

With the right choke and ammo combo, you could likely stretch it on past 50 yards. I would suspect about 75 yards with the right set-up would work OK. Be sure to pattern your buckshot - don't assume all brands of 00 buck will pattern the same. It differs greatly by brand name. It is more magic than science!!

I have killed a few Deer in the past with a Remington Wingmaster 870 with one Deer being 60 yards.
The gun has a 30" full chock barrel and I was shooting #1 buckshot.
Looking back 60 yards was to far it took 2 shots to down him.
Thats not good...A.H

not enough distance

Lots of fantastic stories out there about buckshot at long distances. Get real! Common sense tells you each shot has so much weight and the pattern spreads. Go with a rifled slug barrel. Practice with the gun. Have a great hunting experience.
