Winchester 9422 dates

Can anyone tell me where I can find out what year my 9422 was made? I remember a long time ago my brother had a book where you could look up the serial number and tell what year your rifle was made. It has since been lost. The guy I bought it from said he bought it in 1973. I would like to know if it was made in 1972 and bought in 73 or if really was produced in 73. Thanks for the help.
