We recently purchased a H&R Single Shot Pardner Shotgun. My question is is it able to shoot slugs out of the barrel? Its a fully smoothbore barrel. It says 3" Mod. I would like to know before I attempt to shoot slugs out of it and have something bad happen.

I do out of mine, does yours have any rifling in the barrel at all?

nope none at all, its just all smooth bore. So theres nothing that it can do to the gun?

You should be able to safely shoot slugs out of that Barrel, with no problem!

The only thing I saw was they consistantly shoot low.Maybe it was us but that was several guns and shooters. that was the 28" bbl.The slug bbl,s worked good. sam.

Perfectly safe for the gun. Dangerous for your shoulder if you shoot 3" slugs out of that lightweight shotgun. Stick with the 2 3/4" loads. They will kick plenty enough.

Most bird shotguns shoot high - very high -for me with slugs, due to the low front sight. I have to hold quite low to hit the target.

ya, well i fired it today with 3" slugs, never fired a slug before and had my self looking in the sky after the shot. it hurt, plus the gun ahs NO recoil pad, just a plastic butt-plate, but hell the plastic sure has to be better than the metal stuff on my mauser and 91/30. a shot gun with metal sounds like it would hurt. ill try and find some 2 3/4" around here.

Try out the Remington sluggers. They are rifled slugs and should do just fine in your gun. After each shot let the barrel of your gun cool back down or as samuel said it will keep shooting lower wnd lower if you keep shooting one right after another. I found this out the hard way while trying to sight in my daughter's mossberg 20 ga. I kept adjusting the scope and after we had not shot for a few minutes ,it shot way high.
