USS Picuda Submarine in WW-II

During WW-II we had many relatives in various branches of the service but the one I had trouble finding was my uncle's submarine.

For some reason we thought uncle Jess's sub was named the Pacudda so I have never been able to find out anything about it.

Today I searched the web, trying different spellings and finally found it as the "PICUDA"

Uncle Jess didn't like to talk about the war but every once in a while he'd mention something. We asked him if he had ever been depth-charged and he said "yes, lots of times." He said a dent was put in the hull behind where he was sitting.

He also said they used to go into Tokyo Harbor and hide during the day in some undercut area under the edge of the city and then come up during the night to observe.

Uncle Jess was an electrician on the Picuda.

Here are a link to Picuda info and another one to various submarine jacket patches.
