The following link has pictures of me with my AES-10a "Melania" out hunting deer with sv_libertarian. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in bagging a buck. Hunting pictures by just_a_car - Photobucket
Please note that I had to sleep on sv_lib's boat the night before and didn't get a chance to do anything with my hair; super bed-head.

LOL!... Yeah, the lower handguard aluminum tri-rail I have on there blocks the use of the front sling attachment point and I didn't want to be hand-carrying that thing all day. I had a 6 foot long piece of climing rope and made a makeshift sling out of it.
Surprisingly, walking around all day like that was pretty comfortable; only complaint was it started to dig in a bit at the shoulder later in the day. Also, that method of carry with it slung around the shoulder is very natural for the balance of this rifle. Due to the similarity to the Tabuk Sniper, I could hang it like that without touching it and it would just sit there; to move about, I just had to put my hand on the grip, receiver or buttstock to stabilize it.
I got the inspiration for that method of carry from Dragunov dot net - The Iraqi Tabuk Sniper Rifle and the following picture (not hot-linked to save their bandwidth): tabuk_mosque_guard.jpg

I've been subscribed to this thread from the very beginning. In fact it was this thread that actually inspired me to go out and get one for myself. I however, prefer my rifles to perform as well as possible, and thus my willingness to comment or your lack of acknowledgement that the Bolt Carrier Assembly isn't supposed to hang up on the Fire Control Group; and also my willingness to take the couple of hours of my time to polish the Bolt Carrier Assembly, so that MINE DOESN'T!!!
So if you prefer the janky, mall ninja aspects of your , "hella-cool" , "Tabuk" wannabe, named, rifle(another sign of your obsession with your own cleverness), then so be it, we've all got different tastes... However if you disagree, then please tell us all why having a Bolt Carrier Assembly perform in the fashion you described, is so great, aside from your laziness, and lack of willingness to actually properly fix it, or even acknowledge that a Bolt Carrier ISN'T supposed to "hang up".
I get it... You're hella Awesome!!! And your rifle name after a Russian mail order bride, is HELLA-Awesome too... Sorry though that your hair wasn't perfect for your photo sessions. WHATEVER DUDE... Get over yourself. You're obviously more concerned with how your rifle "looks", then how it performs, so taking your comments seriously is a bit of a stretch anyway. Best of luck to you...

JAC you should check out the latest issue of American Rifleman. They have a feature about all the radical weapon designs that Iraq was developing. Including a melding of the PSL and SVD that is sure to drive PSLMAN nuts that he won't be able to get one lol.

And they even have the Tabuk Sniper Rifle in there... I plan on putting that buttstock on this with a cut-down Romanian thick-wire folding stock, as mentioned previously in this thread, to end up with a "Skeletonized Wooden Folding Stock." That will surely make for easier transportation of this already long rifle.

I dont like mixing wood and non wood furniture personlly. Makes the rifle look like its got too much going on. But that flash hinder is real nice, was thinking that or a AMD-65 on a psl idea ive had for awhile, assuming 7.62x39 muzzle items can handle x54r.

Great thread & info guys. I am brand new to the forum and have some questions about the AES-10. I have been looking for a 10b but haven't seen one in 8 months. I discovered them right after their prices jumped to $800 but found an original -10 (unfired) today at a gun shop wants it gone for less than $400. But it looks like the barrel or receiver is slightly bent to the left as you look down on it from the top. The front sight tower is definately canted left - when you shoulder it and look through the rear sight the right sight ear is in the notch, not the center post. Has anyone seen this before? No mag either so I could not check to see if the receiver is what's warped. Should I just look at this as a parts gun or is there a trick for straightening it.
Thanks for the time and I look forward to hearing from everyone.

What kind of side-rail mount did you use? I can see it's a rail-top like mine, but wondering if it's the dual-rail and/or the quick-detach or screw mount.

The rail is a dual screw mount and I have a green laser on the side rail. I also recently put an AMD-65 Muzzle Brake on it instead of the krink.
