Buying New Gun Online

Hey all,
Im thinking about buying a rifle online. I was just wondering if any of you have experience in doing so (especially with Gunsamerica). I would like to know how reliable they are with shipping and the FLL dealers in particular.

Thanks a lot,
JH

it works pretty well and smooth if your ffl dealer and the other ffl dealer do their paper work smoothly

Please post how your experience was after you buy this gun, I'm considering doing the same method to buy a gun.

I have bought guns from GunBroker and AuctionArms. The transactions went very smoothly and I would not hesitate to buy from these sites again. Having a cooperative local FFL dealer is a big plus.

I have not bought from GunsAmerica yet, but I browse there sometimes.

I have bought several off Gunbroker and Auction Arms with no problems. Just be sure to check out the feedback of the seller before buying from them. I avoid "no feedback" sellers. Some are obviously alright, but I like a history. Gunsamerica doesn't give you the history like that. I had a tough time with the one pistol I bought on Gunsamerica - the dealer tried to say he didn't my poastal money order when he had. After some "friendly" discussion he suddenly found the money order - what an A$$!

I have bought 4 guns off the internet and your FFL holder has to fax a copy of his FFL to the company your buying the firearm from.
I use my visa to pay for the guns, but the gun has to be sent to the FFL holders address.
Depending on your relationship with the FFL holder you may have to pay him a small fee for the use of his/her FFL AND for doing the Back Ground Check that they'll have to do.
You have a few ways to ship U.S. Priority Mail, U.P.S, FedEx and may be DHL.
One of my sources thinks you have to pay sales tax though I haven't yet because I paid for it with "my" Visa.
I don't see it any different than ordering something from Cabela's, Sportsman Guide and who ever so I stopped useing this guy to get my firearms.
I would like to here comment about the tax issue because we don't know...A.H

I don't see why you would need to pay tax on something you bought in another state. All your FFL is doing is receiving it for you - he never owned it to sell it to you. I don't think you have to pay sales tax on services - which is what he is doing with the NICS and transfer. I would find someone that knew more about tax law to handle my transfers - your guy may be pocketing what you may him in taxes - that would be a neat little scam for him. Especially on high dollar guns!

I have bought three rifles using GunsAmerica - all were good transactions, and went smoothly.
There was another transaction that failed - the seller sold the rifle we had done the deal for to a walk-in! I had sent the payment, which he returned. That was a problem with the particular seller though, not with GA.
Needless to say, I was PO'd.

Hey everyone,

Well i called the dealer this morning just to make sure everything was as it appeared online and then i went for it. He said he would get it in the mail by 1 this afternoon so it should be here mid-next week. So far so good. I'll keep you posted on how everything ends up.
