Question so many choices, so little $$

I have put up 2 posts now asking if anyone knew of a company that sold an extended barrel for the Ruger P89.... After not getting any replies here and my futile efforts of searching google and ask.com I have decided that there are probably not any around... SOO my question becomes this.... In Jan or Feb I plan on buying another pistol.. Not sure which one I want yet.. I like the 9mm because they are cheap to shoot without having to do my own reloading.. (i have no reloading equipment or knowledge)... however I hear all the time that .40 and .45 are better at self defense and are just as much fun to shoot.(i would question the self defense)... anyway.. I have found myself in a sea of choices and not the faintest idea of what fits my wants/needs best.... Here is a list of what I am kind of looking for..

Prefer single action trigger.. Dual is okay though

Prefer something that has 15rd mag but will go as low as 10rd

Need something that already has extended barrels that I can buy and drop in.

Need something around the cost of $500 or less..

Prefer something that is small enough to conceal yet big enough for recoil to not be killer..

Any and all suggestions would be great.. I have been told that SIG is pretty good. and Glocks are pretty good.. I have been hearing lately that Tauras has a few newer models that are good, but their older ones are questionable.. (I dont know anything about tauras).. and just an FYI.. I am very new to handguns.. I have had 2 experiences with them. When I was 8 i shot a .44mag revolver because my uncle was a meth head and the recoil brought the hammer to my nose and broke it.. and I now have the Ruger P89 and love it....

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

You could definitely go for a glock. I have the model 24 which is a .40 cal target model. Although that ran me closer to $700 brand new. And with the extended barrel its not very good for concealed at all.

I would suggest a mid-size glock and then buy the target barrel later on if you want. It should work in the original slide, but it will stick out a bit probably at least an inch if not more. And I don't know if that would provide good stability in the barrel. Heck for all I know it may actually make it less accurate .

As another thought, you could always get a .22 target pistol. They are not overly expensive if you find base models, plus the ammo is dirt cheap. And you could still use the Ruger for self defense if need be.

I have two glock model 23's in .40cal thats the midsized very reliable and fairly easy to conceal. another option would be a short barreled revolver in .357 or .38 that would be the eaisest to carry/conceal but then you would lose the higher number of rounds you whated but on that note most shooting only involve 2 to 3 shots...

check

Nubaden: Sir; go to the RugerForum.com. They are about Rugers only. I saw today's message earlier and did look. Not completely sure what I was looking for. So I checked in at Ruger Forum. Didn't see anything that I understood about your deal.
They got some good knowledgeable folks that will help if its available.

Is there any good places to get a used Glock? I live in arizona and am not sure exatcly where to look for used guns other than a pawn shop and I am leary of those because who knows where they came from... I know of a few shops locally that sell used rifles but none that sell used pistols.. I am basically tied to as close to $500 as possible in this endeavor because the cost of the tax stamp and the supressor and extended barrel come out to about $1000.. I am not worried about an extended barrel being bad for carry because I can always pull it and put the stock barrel back in. I am also tied to getting an auto loader and not a revolver because I want the silencer. The ones that I am looking at fit 9mm-.45. I actually work for the company I am buying from. Its Welcome to AWC Systems Technology - World Class Suppression Technology I was really excited about getting either the Titanium abraxxas or the Jupiter Eye depending on whether I get a .40 or .45 or 9mm.. and Neophyte, I am not going to lie.. I am confused by your response.. I was not saying I am tied only to Ruger or even a Ruger specific question here. My only thing about the Rugers was my stating that I had asked 2 times about an extended barrel for my current Ruger P89 and since I have not found one, I was looking for another good pistol that I could get extended barrels for. Anyways, thanks for the help guys
