Ever lost gun in USPS shipping?

Anyone had to file with the USPS insurance about a lost gun shippment? What was the process and how long did it take? I am the buyer but doesn't the sender have to initiate the claim whereas the insurance was purchased on his end?

I've lost quite a bit of things through the mail. Lost a $400 package...took 3 months to get it replaced.

My understanding is you have to make the claim. That could be wrong though, who knows. I've also heard the getting insurance payments from the USPS is a royal PITA.

They should be able to track the package to the particular station where it was 'lost'. A threat (and full intention of carrying it out) to notify the BATF of this, being a firearm, will often result in the gun suddenly "being found". It's worth a try.

I've heard of similar cases of the above... from other members here, if I remember correctly.

get a claim to the BATF and make sure that law enforcement is involved to get in in the ncic system as a stolen gun that way if law enforcement picks it up someone is going to be going to jail.
