I just picked up a new High Point Carbine in 9mm for $165. I wasn't able to shoot too much where I was for the holiday but I was able to run three mags through.
I set up a milk jug full of water, and two small 16 oz water bottles. I hit them all at 50+ yards without too much trouble and I could barely see the water bottles, it was just spot on. I was really surprised how well it shot, and it felt pretty good in my hands, too.
I'm ordering the stock and a scope tonight. I'll wait on the muzzle brake. Anyway, pretty cool gun, especially for the money. I had feed problems twice so far, but figured I probably would with the first run through. I just shook out the shell that didn't want to move. I've had the same problem with a handgun and a good cleaning solved the problem. Anyway, I look forward to a lot of fun shooting this carbine.
Congratulations on the HP purchase and your success while shooting.
Hi-Points wouldn't be eligible to compete in a firearm beauty contest, but they sure do shoot well for what they cost. And, they have a great warranty.
Maybe you could share a pic with us when you get it re-built?

$165???? Where do you live? The cheapest I've found a hi-point here is about $210. Nice guns though, I've been looking at them for a while. A buddy of mine has one and with a laser on it, its fun to shoot bottles with.
I paid $150 otd for a slightly used one with comp and laser/2 xtra mags/mag pouch/everything but the box....gotta get on the ball this week and put on the ATI stock I got for Christmas...barrel shroud...and 40mm TruGlo red dot...

$150! I wish! The big chains here won't touch the Hi-Point here, only Dunhams has it and they're currently at $199. If I hit gun shops, they're going for that or more. That's for your basic plain jane carbine. No toys or add-ons.
I did just check the price guide, I think G&A publishes it. It lists the 9mm carbine priced at 200-300 for 08. Who knows why, but thats how its listed. I initially planned to buy another handgun when I thought, well, why not a carbine as I have all the handguns I really want right now. It is a lot of fun to shoot, I'll say that, and I was very surprised at the accuracy. I guess the only reason I was really surprised was the cost. I can't wait to shoot it again!
Hey Joe, don't get frustrated with the ATI stock, mine took some tweaking, grumbling, and a couple of very colorful metaphors, before I got it to fit like it should. Well worth the effort though. The shroud and the red dot are a breeze. Good luck and enjoy!!!...
