formbys furniture refinisher ...it removes upper layer of finish but leaves the stain and "patina" . i did my K-31 swiss with it , steamed out a few dings and put on some formby's low gloss tung oil. i previously used it to restore a antique wooden display case.
be sure to test it on a small area first, i cleaned up my remington stocked mod. 28 finn with it.

Please post a little more info about the type stock finish you wish to clean. Some cleaners and/or
solvents can harm certain finishes. Perhaps for the
moment you might try a pH neutral soap as in
baby shampoo, warm water, and clean cloth.
Yea, my Noinco looks to be pretty dirty. I can see/feel grain lines and it appears to be original finish. Did they use oil base on them? My Russian has typical Russky finish and cleaned well with soap/water.

You have several options depending on how you want the stock to be when finished...But linseed oil does the best oil finish for a Hand rubbed job. Formbys oil finish works good too....
