Had a quiet one this year, and thank you. Planning on getting in the stand one last time to try and top off the old freezer. We have a special doe hunt coming up this weekend, and if it cools down enough to let it hang and age a bit, it'll be a good thing. I sure do like this forum, and when I learn how to put real pictures on it, I'll prob'ly get some good laffs outa you all.Scotty

I'm one of the newer ones myself. I think my Christmas went pretty well, spent some quality time with family and friends, stuffed myself with excellent chow, gave some gifts that made people really happy and got some cool gifts in return, and gave some money to charity as well. If my new year's (eve) is even half as good as my Christmas, then I'd say this year ended really well.

Have a happy new year guys, and don't drink+drive!

I had a really great Christmas! My old man made a knife for me by hand out of a hunk of mahogany and a saw blade. It's beautiful! I also got a .22, some gift cards to purchase ammo, and a few other small things. It was pretty quiet, but the company and the food were both excellent. Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe New Year's celebration!

You're using a panel from one of my all-time favorite Calvin and Hobbes comic strips for your avatar, FadingStarlight.

Calvin and Hobbes are my absolute favorite, t2. I've got every book of theirs ever produced in America. I'm a bit of a raging hippie turned raging hippie who likes guns and hunting, so C&H are right up my alley.

Wonderful Christmas here also. I had a massive heart attack back in Feb '07, and wasn't supposed to see this Christmas. I'm 100% disabled now, but still try and do everything I can. I can't hunt anymore, but I'm still alive!!!

And a Happy New Year to all! Hey Hustler, a friend of mine had a bad one four years ago. They moved back to Ok. three years ago. He's back on his feet now, of course with some limitations, but doing well. He's back to raising 30 to 40 registered shorthorns ayear, and doing good. You can overcome just about anything if you put your mind to it. As for hunting, if you ever get down this way during deer season, I,ve got a tree stand that works real good for us oldtimers. Give a yell, and I'll be ready. Meantime, take real good care of yourself, and don't let it rule. There a way to overcome just about anything.Scotty

Thank you Scotty for the kind words, and the invite. I was in OK years ago, attending Fort Sill, outside of Lawton. Field Arty. 105mm howitzers, 155 SP's. Nice area!! I also have diabetes, and need two hip replacements, thus my large amount of time on the computer! Sometimes the pain is too great to handle, and I take it out on my wife and kids, but they understand. And thank you for your service, as well as others. I spent two years active as well, coming home as a e-4. My entire family is/was US Army, starting with my grandfather who fought in WWI, all my uncles, two were "lifers", fighting the Nazis and the Japs, my dad who was in Burma, and China during WWII, my father-in-law who was a Special Forces Combat Medic, two tours of VN, and then myself...God Bless you all!!!

Hustler, been there with the pain, and not saying I know what your pain is, but understanding the problems it can cause. I was given a medical discharge for a shattered elbow, and it seemed like it took my whole life away. I was career, and had been in since I was 17. I took it out on everybody around me for years. It ruined several marriages and made me miserable for a long time. I'm at the point now where I know when to get off by myself, and leave folks alone. My present wife is a saint, and she knows when I'm in pain, and that it will be okay when the pain goes away. I've lived with it since I was 24, and it doesn't rule me anymore. You take care of yourself, and when you get those hips replaced and feel like traveling, give a yell. And you're right, bless all those in uniform, past, present, and future. Without 'em, we wouldn't be the USA. Welcome Home, Vet! Scotty

Thumbs up

Just wanted to wish everyone, especially some of the newer members on G&G, a Happy New Year!

Chris has made this forum into what it is by continuously modifying and adding new things here to create the best gun forum on the web.

I've especially enjoyed meeting some of you in the FlashChat forum. Others I've met on various threads. One thing's for sure, this forum wouldn't be the same without your presence here. We need you and I look forward to reading your threads or comments.
