Guns and wifes

I read a post where guy said that his wife "gave him permission" to buy MN. My wife actually encourages me to have all the guns I want, w/o asking any questions why I want or need one. She believes that as a man, I must have my toys, and it has has nothing to do with her and her toys. Am I just lucky to have a woman like this? Is it an exception in today's America?

No, not really...although my wife and I aren't exactly seeing eye to eye these days, never a problem in the gun department...half the time she doesn't even know I got something else unless I show it to her.

I have my own bank account, she has hers....

the women in my family just assume that if you are male you like guns.
they cast a wary eye on a grown man that doesnt like them.
(as in does he like women?)

I am pretty lucky. I have a lot of disposable income that I can buy my toys with.

My wife never gave it too much thought . . . until we moved. I had to make several trips to get all my toys to the new house. She then became aware of what I had and where I have it. She monitors things a little more now.

She won't say "no" but I don't push my luck either. I let her know about every fourth or fifth one. I even feign poverty at times and hit her up for a "loan" to buy a gun. This has worked better than sneaking or hiding.

Now, did I ever tell you about the time her dog walked into the kitchen, while we were eating, with a roll of $20 bills in his mouth? It was my "gun stash" and the knucklehead had found it andwas bringing it to her. True story.

My better half was raised in the country, and has owned a rifle since childhood. She never grouses about me buying another rifle. She has her .22 semi auto, 20 ga Mossberg 500, and her scoped M91/30, and I have my rifles. She used to go to the range with me quiet often, but doesn't go much anymore.

She outshot me everytime at ranges out to 100 yards, but would not shoot at 200 yards or farther. She is my best friend, and is very understanding about my cronic case of mosinitas. She even gave me a gift certificate for the local gun shop for christmas.

Besides, I share my guns with my 13 year old son when he goes to the range with me, and even buy him one every now and then. I taught him to reload and set him up with his own loading bench and equipment.

Man, I wish I had a wife like you guys have. I learned that my guns...uh..."break" on a regular basis and need to be taken to the "gunsmith". Out goes an empty gun case, in comes a full gun case. "What are you talking about...new gun? This thing has been around a long time. Honest!

P.S. I almost never buy a new weapon. Too much fun seeking out the unusual hidden treasures from the glory years of firearms. When men were men and sheep were scared in [editor deletion to protect the innocent, crabby or both].

I been married about a year and a half. My wife knows all the guns I have, for the most part. I don't keep her in the dark and she even has a couple of guns of her own. In the past year I have gotten 4 new guns and got one for her as a birthday present. 2 of the guns I bought exclusively out of my personal spending money and the other two were bought as gifts for me. All in all not a bad deal.
