I've had the crazy idea of a bullpup bolt action rifle, and one desirable feature would be a handle mounted towards the front of the bolt, like on the Mosin Nagant. Does anyone know of actions that could accomodate this feature, or am I pushing the limits of sanity even more? My objective is a .300 Win Mag rifle with a long enough barrel to hit more like a Weatherby, but with less recoil, blast, barrel wear, and ammunition expense in the long run. Thus, more affordable actions are preferred.
Sounds interesting. I bet you could make some kind of a Bullpup stock for the rifle, which would give you everything you want, except being hard to cycle. You just move the action back, fashion a linkage for the trigger , and make a new trigger. You would have experiment with the bolt handle though.
Take a look at the 50cal bmg's in the bolt action I saw some in bullpup design. I looked it up it's a Barrett model 99. Might give you a little inspiration.
