note to G-meister -- not trying to burn you or anything, but glock tritium night sights are not little vials, they are just dents like the phosphorous ones on the yugo. i find it interesting that the yugo in question of having the tritium sights, has what looks like little rocks, not highly processed material - as in the glock, which has paint im guessing.
oh. WOW..... res45's chart was for chinese manufacture dates... WOW...
i am just guessing that the serial number is a Z, because thats what the dude i bought it from put on the paper, on the stock it just starts with a 6, not a letter, although i think on the importers etching on the side of the reciever it does have a Z (those are importer marks, right? - not factory?)
sorry billy. | phillip,
if you have an unissued YUGO sks the serial number should be VERY CLEAR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RECIEVER as in you cannot miss it
here is mine.

G-Meister | dude, i have already acknowledged that you are correct, and i am wrong, if you would've read my damn posts, you would have noticed that i stand corrected, and i know that my sights are not tritium, but that other stuff. (i forget now, and it wont let me open the same thread in a new window.)

yeah, my number is 6066somethingsomething something | Philip, I APOLOGIZE, I should have specified to whom I was merely trying to get to understand. I didn't mean you. I again apologize. I believe it was in regards to RES45? that had posted after you.
I'm only posting now to apologize to you. I didn't mean to make it seem I was still trying to get you to understand.
I didn't put any name in the post because a lot of people have the misconception it is Tritiuim. Even the guy that had the one in his shop I was looking at had it labeled as Tritium. I had to go through all this with him and he finally saw it was phosphorus.
I only originally replied to your post and I did see you got it also. Again, I am sorry if you were under the impression I was directing it towards you.

Billy, what did you use to give yours the apparent shine on the wood you have? Did you clear coat it? Just curious.

As for that link with the list you posted, I've even emailed them about it explaining all I did here, and then some, to them. They never even replied to let me know they got my email. Nor did they reply to let me know where they got their information from as I asked in that same email. So I could check it out. I figured, if they want to go on believing it, no skin off my butt. lol
Again. I wasn't trying to come off as a know it all. Was just trying to get you to simply understand that Tritium has to be handled with care. The NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) has to authorize and give permission for the use of it to Trijicon and Meprolight (Kimber) for the night sights they produce.
I'm not going to worry about it. It's no big deal. Again, I'm sorry if I came off to you as a know it all. Was just trying, to get you to understand it is strictly regulated and just can't be slapped on a rifle sight is all. The U.S. would not allow them to be imported in the condition I've seen some in if it was Tritium. By that, I mean I've seen some that are literally chipped in spots. But, seriously, I know noffing, noffing. lol (sorry, was remembering a SGT. Schultz (from Hogans Heroes) moment there).

it's not as slick or shiny as the camera under a bright light makes it look.
i wanted to keep dirt from getting embedded in the wood and i also wanted to preserve the pencil armourers marks on the stock itself.
this is before i got rid of that dumb idea scope.
i like it stock better.
i've already got scopes on other guns.
no sense modding an already cool rifle.

The weaver mount on this one is screwed onto the receiver cover and I'm considering using rubber washers of some sort to cushion the scope a little? Trying it sure can't hurt it any. What do you think? LMK.

it works ok but i already own VERY accurate rifles and once i started pushing the envelope of what the sks is capable of i decided to just put it back the way it was issued.
if i want to get 1 hole 5 shot groups i wont use my sks.
some people tailor loads and get very good accuracy out of their sks's
but i dont bother.
i buy 1000 rnd. lots of the cheapest ammo i can find for mine.
reciever cover scope mounts .
they dont hold that well as a rule but some do.

Philip, if you're going to be a respected part of G&G, you have to post pictures of AT LEAST your Mosin Nagant and usually an SKS thrown in. No one ever gets tired of looking at them!
lol I'm just messing with you. We do however LOVE pictures! Pictures are our friends...

I bought my Chinese from a buddie at work. Came with pig sticker, 2 35 rd. clips, 450 rounds and sling, belt and more. He must have been needing the money, I gave $200.00 for the whole thing. Looks good, clean and never had no problems. Another buddie seen one at a local gun shop this past weekend, chinese I think he said, $145.00. That's normal around here, $150.00-$200.00.

well i finally got to shoot the thing, i only put 10 rds through it though. i probably wont shoot it much more until spring when weather is better for such activities. but i have found that slam firing is not an issue with this one. at some point i would like to try shooting it as fast as i can to try to see if i can create a jam, but the conditions werent great for trying such things at the moment, because i dont have anything to lean on / steady myself with , and im sure people on the next farm over wouldn't appreciate bullets raining down on them from my barrel rising. oh, and i put every bullet i shot into a 2.5x3.5 piece of cardboard (yay for me)
