rear sight spring question

OK, Unscoping my 91/30. Does the rear sight spring go in bow side up or down. In other words do I make it look like a 'u' or an 'n'?

Thanks

As soon as I get my pin out I'll let you know. The thing is being really stubborn.

Go back 1 year in the forum. You'd be suprised at what you'll find! You need a C clamp and a piece of wood or punch. The pin is under spring tension...you'll have to relieve it! If you get lost, jus yell!

I understand how the rear sight goes together. My question is about the orientation of the spring as I put it back in.

does the curve face down like a 'u' or does the curve point up, like an 'n'?

Thanks!

If I put the rear sight back in (it's a pretty snug fit, I remember), do I need to re-sight it? Or should it shoot similarly to how I had it before it was scoped?

great! Thanks. I've got 5 shells left of the good stuff and it's the last week of deer season

OK, sorry if I wasn't making my original question clear, but here's the answer for the next person:

The spring curves like a 'u' when looking at the rear sight from the side. I just had to drift the whole rear sight assembly off to get the spring out after putting it in upside down.

Man, these guns are tough!

Rear sight is back in now :-)
