I recently acquired Colt Official Police revolver 22LR caliber. It is serial number 2241 and judging from a SN site I found, it appears to be made sometime during 1931. However, I don't know much else about it yet. It appears to be in VG condition also and I would like to know if anyone might know its value as well? It appears to have an "S" and a "U" embossed near the SN also. Any ideas???
A pre-War Colt could have a round or Square butt and 4,5, or 6 inch barrels...22lr was introduced in 1930...
Value...98% = 650.00 w/ square butt
More if with round butt and verified 1200-1300.

Love the old Colts I have a police positive special 6" 32-20 and the grips are red with black swirly stripes and look to be original. Family hand me down and wouldn't sell it at any price.
Hi, I'm looking for a set of one piece Colt SAA grips to fit my 1st generation revolver. Will the one piece grips for a Colt SAA Frontier fit my Peacemaker? Not that familiar with the frontier but I've seen where Peacemaker, Frontier, and others fall under Colt SAA as if they might be the same firearm. Have also seen much about the 1st generation Frontier in 44-40 caliber which identifies with mine, but I know Colt made the SAA in "boo-coos" of calibers. Appreciate any help. Thanks, Jimp

Colt called the SAA by differen't names because of the chambering not because of frame size.Grips for any SAA frame regardless of caliber will fit if it's in the same generation. The frames the same whether it's a .32-20 or a .476 Eley.
Be aware though that the one piece grips often require custom fitting.Interchangeability only goes so far even on new guns as far as grips are concerned.

The OP .22 caliber was made starting in 1930 through 1967.The only barrel length offered was 6 inch on the square butt frame.By your serial number it was produced prior to Nov.1931 so it does not have the recessed cylinder head feature and you should not shoot HV .22s in it.Production total was in excess of 30,000.
I've got one in the 1xxx range from 1930.They're fine old handguns to shoot, they duplicate the weight and size of the .38 models.Enjoy it you don't run across them often.
JimBob, many thanks for the jhelp. I suspected what you wrote but wasn't sure. Did you see my earlier post about how best to remove old nickel plating.....and other questions? You can probly help me there too if you don't mind Thanks again, JimP
